Can i just say Possession that i have been stocked up each and every month i have done the grocery challenge. It doesnt stop me from spending on offers each month. Good luck to your oh for his interview.
Just had a lovely tea with oh, mmmmmmm, lamb kebabs with garlic dressing, salad and hm pitta bread. In fact the whole meal was home made. Give it another couple of months and the salad will be home grown. Pitta bread was a bit flat but it did the job.

Thanks Meg, managed to get a few cheap baking trays and a flan dish for that £30 too, so quite impressed!

I'm feeling very naughty. OH took ANOTHER pack of mince out to defrost today which wrecked my good intentions. I was given strict instructions to prepare a chilli whilst the family are indoor rock climbing. I was also requested not to do any concoctions! ...Moi?

Well, my hardly any meat, chilli is now bubbling away furiously. It is made up of nearly a full bag of carrots, grated. Lots of lentils. Loads and loads of kidney beans, loads of onions, loads of tomatoes... and a little pack of mince!!!! :rotfl:
It is very tasty though. Nice beefy stock, red chilli, the essential ground cumin and my favourite touch: pure cocoa powder:)

There is plenty for 3 days of meals. I used my biggest stock pot and it is to the brim.

Gonna put on another pan of rice now.... (bit fed up of rice now though to be honest. Had rice patty thingies for breakfast, HM LO rice pudding, curries with rice and loads of stuff over the last few days:eek:)

    JJ's leftover rice burgers:

The experimental breakfast worked like a dream:

I'm trying to get to the weekend without buying more cereal!

Simply break an egg into a cup, add leftover rice to form a sticky mound. Season to taste and shallow fry!

Would go great with fried mushrooms or a poached egg on top. Or simply as a addition to a meal!

    Pleased with the experiment!:j

I might fry up a batch of these and freeze them. They would make a great addition to my freezer stocks for meal standbys!

    Edit:
You only need one for breakfast! They are REALLY filling. Insanely cheap meal if you just have one topped with an egg, etc!;)
I am thinking these would be great with bacon bits for a
dinner, will try them later in the week as have frozen rice to use up.

Chilli looks fab jumblejack, i do a similar trick with the carrots & lentil, though i use quorn mince. Iwas left with too many nightmares from my mother cooking mince. I cant eat the stuff unless i mince it myself or its top whack quality. So quorn it is.
