I spent £10.06 in local shop. I really thought I was going to stick to the budget this month till I did that. Even if we only eat from the freezer for the rest of the month I'll be hard pushed to not go over now.

    Evening all,

NSD for me - not for the want of trying tho! Went to the hairdressers and popped into C00p next door to get a paper. They had a pack of 4 cheese topped rolls for 26p. The lady on the till refused to sell them to me as they were ood yesterday :(

Had Old El Pa$o burritos for tea. Used two packets (as there are 5 of us and 8 tortillas won't str-e-t-c-h), 450g of DR minced steak, grated carrot into it and added chopped toms and a green pepper, plus some cheese. There is a portion leftover for my lunch tomorrow. I am decorating the hallway/stairs/landing this week - think multiple gloss surfaces - which will be a trial especially as our dog likes to follow me EVERYWHERE. Happy that lunch is sorted at least ;)

I'm still ploughing on with May's budget (until 31st May) and am hopeful I can do this - famous last words :rotfl:

NSD so far today. Going out this evening, so just need to make sure I'm home late enough that I don't want to go and mooch!!

Managed it! I got home about 20 mins ago, and came straight on here! All the way home I told myself I didn't need anything. It really helps that I have absolutely nowhere to put anything!!

Lovely dinner provided tonight at the quiz, and a delicious pudding.

As it's an nsd today, the average daily budget will have increased ever so slightly - I can feel myself becoming obsessed with this number now!

    Night all,

Ooh, the will power! Good luck on making those last :rotfl::rotfl:.If you're ever after cheap chocolate I can totally recommend fin carre from !id!. Trouble is, it's so cheap you can never just by one bar :p

I ordered them as a treat for DH and thought I would be fine to resist them as I am a cadburys girl, however I had to try one last night and it was really nice. I think I might be in trouble!

Thanks for the Lidl chocolate tip off. There is supposed to be a store opening soon near where I Work so I will have to investigate and test out!

    Xx

  • Hi everyone :)

Does anyone know when the June GC starts?

I get paid Thursday and want to get started then :T but thought id wait for June GC to state my intentions
You can start it whenever you want. Just keep a tally of what you spend and how much you want to set it for and there will be a link in a while putting the June one up, sometime on here, saying new thread or something.

Spend of £3.30 today on milk and water biscuits - so I have christened my June GC. :(
No oven on tonight - so no baking - good job - freezers are heaving!
We had lamb kebabs, rice with leek and side salad - cucumber, onion, radishes, spring onion and tomatoes for dinner.

The offers this weekend are now revealed by granary roll on the shopping thread:

It's another Brekkie offer for the weekend of 26th-27th May.

Glenview farm Unsmoked rindless back bacon rashers 250g was £1.29 now 64p

Branston Baked Beans 4 pk was £2 now £1

Fresh Vine Tomatoes Loose was £1.99 per kg now 99p per kg

Looks like I will get 8 of the bacon this weekend! I had 8 mince last weekend and 8 frying steak the weekend before (I hit 2 Lidls in a round trip!). Handy to chuck in the freezer. I LOVE these deals. I never seem to time the chilled reductions successfully so these serve me very well indeed... And they are FRESH!:j

I can't sleep as OH is snoring so got up to have a brew and wash my hair (and check emails, etc in glorious peace and quiet)

I will be trying one of the leftover rice breakfast ideas too.
The rest of the family will have to either have toast, tea cakes or porridge (with watered down milk... Wonder if they'll notice?!)

Have a great day everyone. It's lovely and sunny here already!

    JJ's leftover rice burgers:

The experimental breakfast worked like a dream:

    photo-82.jpg?t=1337750772

I'm trying to get to the weekend without buying more cereal!

Simply break an egg into a cup, add leftover rice to form a sticky mound. Season to taste and shallow fry!

Would go great with fried mushrooms or a poached egg on top. Or simply as a addition to a meal!

    Pleased with the experiment!:j

I might fry up a batch of these and freeze them. They would make a great addition to my freezer stocks for meal standbys!

    Edit:
You only need one for breakfast! They are REALLY filling. Insanely cheap meal if you just have one topped with an egg, etc!;)
