Today is the last day of my May GC and I am over by £23. I'm not too worried as I know at the beginning of the year I was spending sooo much more. I must try harder next month, so many of you put me to shame.

Really pleased with myself today. I've now managed 5 nsds in a row, and I have been using stuff up, which is something I always used to do, but then got a bit slack. I've finished a whole net of oranges (aldi) and i've just stewed up some rhubarb (aldi). I'm using up some soft cheese for my lunches, 1 tub of that and some crackers, and that's the main bit of my lunch sorted, just need fruit and whatever then.

Dinner was something from the freezer, with rhubarb crumble for pud. I made the crumble in a ramekin, as it was jsut for me, so there's some more stewed rhubarb in the fridge, ready for another day!

Won't need to shop tom, and prob won't be able to on Fri, so hoping to have 7 nsds in a row - this is unheard of! Hoping I'm changing my ways, as I got really good last year at going once a week, with an occasional top up midweek, but this year I've been absolutely rubbish. I have had a lot on my plate though, but some of that is money, so you'd think I'd have sorted myself out, but no!

I have updated my sig to show my daily allowance for the rest of the year. My first aim was to get it up from £3.43 to £3.50, which I'm close to. Of course, it'll go down again as soon as I shop over the weekend, esp as I need loo rolls. I'm planning on walking to farmfoods, as I get their loo rolls, and it means I won't be able to get too much f and v. I have a melon that will do most of the lunchboxes next week, and I have loads of dried mango/sultanas/tinned fruit to use up.

    Night all,

Just eaten a slice of my first ever loaf in a panny. Mmm!! Had the actual breadmaker for around a month, but never needed to use it, so I have purposely made sure I needed bread in the middle of the week, and man it's lush! It feels and tastes so much nicer than my old c00kworks one. Expensive, but I'm worth it! Can't wait to try out loads of options. Going to be making pizza dough in it on Friday, as having that for dinner when my friend comes over to bottle up our home brew!

I have a panny and have barely used it in the last two years - not helped by the fact we had a sandwich business for the last 18 months so had bread delivered every day - must try harder!

Another top up spend in Mr S on some YS mangetout and babycorn plus mushrooms. £2 to update

Got a pack of YS pork steaks from the freezer which I bought from co-op back in March. I thought that the quantity would be big enough for 2 meals (tonight and tomorrow) because that's what happened with a similar pack of meat I bought from Mr T. However, when it came to cooking there was SO MUCH fat on them - it halfed the quantity straight away!

Due to this I bulked it up heavily with veg and noodles. It lasted tonight and am stuffed. Also have enough for lunch tomorrow.

Tomorrow SHOULD be a NSD - I have lunch and for dinner I'm doing spaghetti with chopped toms, mushrooms, bacon and parsley - all things in the house. No reason at all to spend at all really.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun! :D

Lunchtime Sarnies courtesy of seminar, ice lollies out of freezer and pub out of PM make this technically a GC NSD. 1SM and 2 meals out left this month should leave tidy surplus :T

So you think there is a real difference in bread made in a panny to a cookworks - wonder why - they are both bread makers.

  • HI all,
Just came across this forum and i think it is great!
I'd thought i would introduce myself and hope you do not mind my late entry onto the forum. :)
Due to me being a bit of a dingbat and losing all control of spending, (although in no debt, just now have very little money coming in) i decided to be more froogle. I keep all my receipts and realized the cost of what i am spending on food a week is ridiculous.. £400.00 this month so far on food and take aways, visits to my corner shop are the worse oh and the £4.00 a day on the icecream van on they way home from school is not helping and the 2lt bottle of diet coke for myself every day is adding up pretty quickly.
Just going to lay out my plan of action starting today until Thursday 31st.
    1. I have two freezers stuffed to the brim with food.... use them
    2. No Spend Days after today's essential Grocery shop (mainly milk and fruit) i have restricted my budget to £25.00 i know it sounds a lot but i need to get on top of this spending.....
    1% challenge £2015.50 = £20.16
    Make £2.50 a day £80.82/77.50
Sealed pot opening Nov 2018: ???
Going back to being to basics. And penny pinching in 2018 This will be my year 😘
