Louise Holmes, spokeswoman for comparison website Moneyfacts, describes the scheme as "an exciting, innovative way for cardholders to conduct transactions"0

The sooner we get rid of cash the better in my opinion. Just a shame off-licenses etc will still probably charge fees for purchases under £10/50

Millions of us carry mobile phones nowadays, so using our phones as a method of payment should prove popular with many consumers.
this is designed to solve the problem that there are some transactions from which the banks don't take a cut.
it's yet another incentive to steal mobiles. if you get one, it would be safer to stick it to something of no value. then not all your apples are in one basket.0 -
But what happens when you no longer want the phone and you've got your DC/CC stuck to it?0

has anyone received a paytag yet? i registered and it says 6-8 weeks...that's a long time away!0

I don't feel any excitement about this and don't want to stick anything to my phone unless they pay me for this.
then don't apply for 1...it's useful as an option for those of us that want it until a mobile app comes out (visa are releasing 1 during the olympics this year and o2 are adding it to their o2 wallet by the end of the year as well).
i'd prefer not to have to carry anything at all. maybe just have an earpiece/glasses that can do everything. 2nd best would be just carrying a phone and no wallet0 -

i hope this does stop soon. apparently the charge for accepting contactless payments is much smaller - something like 7p for debit cards and 15p for credit cards. maybe this will stop them from charging. it's just hurting their business - i won't shop anywhere that charges more than 20p to pay by card.
the only reason they don't charge to pay by cash is coz they can fiddle their books a little bit with cash and no1 will notice. they can't do this with card transactions. if they lodged all their cash in the bank then it would be just as cheap to accept cards as banks charge businesses to lodge cash...and they actually have to pay to have the cash collected or pay someone to take it to the bank.0 -
