  • I have hooked up a box to a central dish for our apartment building without a card in the slot (waiting for a new one to be sent) When I switch it on it states 'no signal is being received'. Is this normal? What steps do I have to follow when I receive my new card to up and running?

    Hi m8

I live in an apartment block and each apartment has a feed from the dish. But between the dish and the apartments is a splitter box. We had problems with that recently and we received the message no signal is being received. And another time our LNB was knackered and we had the same message. So could be one of those 2 things aswell

Just wondering how long this has been available and is there any come backs if they discover you lied when saying your a freesat customer. It's possible they could cancel your contract is'nt?

No one has answered this question, so I will try and say it's possible one could get done for fraud. Although most likely they won't take action is it worth the headache?

didn't get the 12 months 1/2 price line rental, couldn't get much in way of rental deals

Was offered a Sky + box for £49.99 and a £34.00 subscription... said I wasn't interested, as I didn't want to pay anymore for my subscription and I would just cancel.

They offered me a new box in the end and remote, which suits me fine as my box is so un responsive.

Was sooooo tempted by Sky + but not prepared to pay £34.00 a month and have movies channel (most of which I have already seen), and lose some of my mixes.

New box comes next Sunday (told them not to come too early not a morning person :-) )

Pity I couldn't have got the sky + and stayed on my current package :-) would have been great to record the programs I never get to see as the kids busy hogging the TV... oh well... in better position than I was this morning...
    2007 £1749
    2008 £291.99
    2009 JanMasscara £7.00 Feb megcabot books x 2 £20 XFactor tkts x 2 £58.00 (couldn't go though as they only phoned on day :-( ) foundation £7.99
total so far for 09 £92.99

Well ive had my card since 9th march but sky + still aint working.. have rung everyday and have been told it might take months to fix.. will not get compensation as i have the full package and sky plus is free.. when i opened the account i used my work number as my home number already has an account..

    any suggestions anyone??

Obviously I can't say WHY it isn't working, but on my situation, on day 1 everything but the movie channels worked, so after a call to Sky Livingston and working through things like turning the LNB on and off again via the menu's and turning everything off at the plug, removing cables and basically re-installing the whole thing, they duly dispatched an engineer who turned up this morning, replaced the old LNB, and when it still wouldn't work, replaced my old Amstrad box with a brand new Panasonic one without uttering a word that I've been with Sky (effectively) for donkeys years!

NB, normally you have to pay for new boxes, as Sky mailshots often remind you. I guess my 'new' ehmmm contract means I get it as if a new installation.

All this for 75p more a month, you can't beat that kind of service!! :j :rotfl: :j :rotfl: :j :rotfl: :j
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)

Not a chance IMO. Take action over 1/2 subs for a year? Thats max a saving over £120 ish over the term, the words small and potato's immediately spring to mind :rotfl:

At worse they'd just cancel the contract and probably offer you some other less attractive offer to stay on with them.

Just called in, dont even know what freesat is, asked if i was a freesat customer and i said YES, he then asked for my veiwing card number and i said that i am not near sky box right now so took my postcode and phone number and asked when i cancelled sky ( I STILL HAVE SKY! ) He then asked me if i bought the sky box and i said yes, he said i am not on the database and i asked about freesat, was told that this offer is only for freesat customers/those who took out a freeveiw in february (NO IDEA WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT!)
Can somebody explain what freesat is and is there anything else I can do to take part in this offer?
