Many thanks - just took Sky World for 12 months at £21.75 per month
  • I phoned sky for the offer but i am still under a contract, they said they have no offers for me, so i cancelled my contract. but just before he pressed the button he piped up with "what if i give you a new sky box" i replied that my old one was working fine, so why would i need a new one. He then offered me a sky+ box for £49.99 but not mentioning i would have to pay an extra £10 on top of my monthly subscription. I am considering virgin media, this looks like a great package.

    Anyone please??
  • I have hooked up a box to a central dish for our apartment building without a card in the slot (waiting for a new one to be sent) When I switch it on it states 'no signal is being received'. Is this normal? What steps do I have to follow when I receive my new card to up and running?

put it on bbc one, if you can't get a signal then you've 'hooked it up' incorrectly

I tried calling last night, my second attempt.

Everything went nice and smoothly. Didn't try to find me on their system, and offered me the full package for half price. Just waiting for my new card to come through now!

    Thanks OP

Either the sat is not facing the right direction, the sat is broken, the wiring is bad or the receiver is broken.

If you go to services in the Sky Box then press 0 then 1 then enter you get to the secret install menu with a signal meter and sat lock info. You should then be able to work out what is wrong from there, you can use this meter to move the sat in to the right direction if that is the problem. Once locked you can watch many channels without a card including the BBC ones.

The other thing is that you will all have to watch the same channel in the apartment block if you share the same sat/receiver. To watch different channels you each need a box and a quad LNB (upto four) on the dish with multiple wires for each box.
