I was on for an hour, and i usually get what i want. not this time though. been with sky for years and they said that this was for people who dont already have sky. i told em i had a flyer and they apologised, gave me 30 quid for my troublesome time!

I ranted for ages, got put throught o cancellations, they said i could cancel no probs at all. I quit most of my packages and told them that i wanted to have the full package but couldn't really afford it. could i have the new deal and i will sign again fr 12 months. they said no.

i threatened to go to virgin media. they said go for it!

how much worse could it get!

They know you won't go because virgin hasn't got much on these days... it's all about a free market...

  • Finally managed to get this offer on Saturday night. I had to keep trying about 4/5 times as I kept on getting the usual story of "your house has not been sent this offer" until I finally managed to get through to a girl who processed it for me.

I didn't think even she was going to do it for me at first as she made me read out the first few lines of the letter just to make sure I'd received the offer (or so she thought!)

We already have Sky so I had to use a friends address and also used a different debit card than the one registered to the original Sky account (just in case it flagged up!)

Similar to what an earlier poster was saying I'm already on a 25% off deal until August so am just wondering if it is OK to not activate the card until then? Any ideas anyone?

I got the 6 months half price with new 12 month contract, but have held out. I bought a Humax PVR and am not going to activate the card, $ky can blow me, as they say in the movies.

    £37 a month saving :)

Are you still in a contract to Sky until August?

If you are, then you will have to wait till August to activate the new card in which case I am not sure if the deal stays on the card or will expire. I am not sure if you will get the deal but you could call Sky and do a wee bit of white lying - tell them you are moving house in the summer and are thinking about waiting to activate the new card and will you still get the half price offer if you wait to activate the card. Try to give them as little details as poss I reckon though.

Interesting to see if you can hold onto the card and then get it activated a few months later.

I rang up last night to try and cancel my existing Sky account and despite me being with them about 4/5 years they say that cos I took an offer of 12 months @ 25% off last August apparently I'm tied into another 12 month contract!

I'm gonna give them a bell and tell them I might be getting sent overseas with work for a few months and see if I will still be able to keep the half price offer until August if I don't activate the card.

You may well be right about the offer only being valid on the card for a certain amount of time as someone else on Digital Spy said the same thing to me.

I do remember a couple of years ago after the BBC stopped doing FTV cards and there was a shortage of them. I got two stand alone 2 month trial cards for NASN.

I activated the first one straight away but left the second until after the first one had expired and still managed to get the whole 2 months on the second card despite it being some time after I had originally placed the order for the cards. Dunno if thats any indication at all?

Mine went off today due to me cancelling last month and I rang them today and got the 6 month half price deal. Gonna ring sky once activated and see If I can get a sky+ box out of em. Cheers to OP.

Cancelled my Sky a month ago today.
Phoned the number given in post number one of this thread (08702 432018) about half an hour ago.
Asked about the offer I'd received via Mr Postman (wink wink)- ie the 12 month 1/2 price deal. I was told that this offer ended on 31st of March.
I asked what subscription offers they could provide. I was told that the most they can now offer is 6 months half price. Any package you want at half price.

Took the full package Sky World - ie everything. £21.75 for 6 months then reverts to 43.50 for final six months of contract.

Normal price £522 per year. Cost to me is £391.50. A saving of £130.50 per year or £10.88 per month.

    Thank you very much.
