Sky 1/2 Price 12 Months !!!
Comments

Whilst people might not be able to get 12 months half price anymore it seems to me as though they are offering the 6 months deal a bit more readily than they were with the twelve.0

I just rang them (my Sky is switched off next week following cancellation) - they said they can offer the half price deal but only for 6 months. Sounded good.
The proviso being that you have not had a Sky account!
I was told that so many people are ringing up for the offer even though they have had a Sky account. The lady I spoke to then went on to say they now have new systems in place to ensure that even if you get given the offer when you ring up - there are now secondary checks being made and if you have not been truthful it may catch you out when it actually comes to billing. Apparently billing is on a seperate system? So when it goes over to the billing department people to actually take the money - there are more stringent computerised checks being made and anyone who has had an account can expect to be charged the full amount, even retrospectively.
Caveat emptor!0 -
I am hoping to get Sky and Sky+ as soon as possible - never had it before. We currently have Ntl and want to be able to watch Sky 1. Just want to get sky as cheaply as possible so can anyone give me a brief run down of how and offers - if any. I know there is lots of info on the thread but I am getting more confused reading it trying to understand the different phone numbers and letters / offers - what has : expired and so on...... sorry - it's my limited anti gadget, anti technical brain not helping........ /0

Well i got the offer, but never mentioned anything to the lady about me getting the leaflet, only said ' i believe sky are doing an offer for old customers of a half price rental for 12 months'. so i was never asked if i recieved the leaflet. And i dont think they can apply charges retrospectively, the worst possible scenario could be sky terminating the contract.
I am not bothered, as i took sky only ecause of the offer, otherwise i would not even have bothered taking sky0 -

I would just call them and tell them that you are currently with Virgin and are considering leaving them (dont sound desperate for Sky One though as then they have you by the short & curlies) 'what deals can you offer me?'
Then leave it with them, If they offer you something thats not brilliant tell them you have heard about the 6 months half price offer, I'd tell them you want free installation too. Be confident and decisive. If you dont like the offer then leave it and call back antoher time and hopefully you will get someone thats a bit more flexible.

Thanks very much for the advice - I had got confused reading through the thread. I had wondered if Sky might have another offer soon anyway now that the initial flood of Ntl users would have moved over. As you say - no harm in ringing!0 -
Hello everyone.
Any advice please?
I have a normal SKY box but for some reason (it is 6 years old) some of the channels dont come on such as ITV, BBC4 etc - I am sure it is a technical fault.
Apparently they will charge £65 to repair THEIR box so is there something I can do ie threaten cancellation, and get them to repair it for free or even better get an upgrade to SKY + etc?
Anyone done this before with a faulty box?0 -
threaten to cancel
they'll put u through to cancellations
they might offer u sky+ also
maybe 49 inc installation0 -
^ thanks, but what is "49 inc installation" please?0
-
sky + will cost £49 including instalation
u get a new box and lnb0
