I have Sky and Sky+ but aren't tied into a contract. Does this mean I could cancel and apply for the 12 months half price deal through HDTV?

If so what do i need to do?

    Thanks

I have Sky+ but aren't tied into a contract either. I would like to know if I can do this too. If I cancelled would it mean Im without Sky for weeks though?

I just immedietely rang sky and cancelled my existing subscription They ask you loads of questions why but I said Im just following hubby,s orders, then he said its in your name and dont forget your subscriptions due this month. My existing sky package will now run till 6 April,Im on full package but he said if you want you can have basic package for 3 months for the price of this months subscription thats due,I said no.I,ve now got 2 questions will it work I gave them wrong phone number, they said it does need a phone line, and also when should I put the new card in my box and activate if my existing sky is running to 6th April.???It will mean if I put the new card in now My old subscription is still switched on.wont they see my box is already running till 6th April. Also they take the first payment out after 10 days.Is it best to wait to 6 April to activate my new card. Thanks Trevor_John, and cheekymole.Regards Max.

right at the bottom of page 11, bluey9 posted an offer that they'd been told about by a sky rep, 33% off any subscription for a year with free box/dish & installation.

Seems a fair deal to me if you wanted the whole package, if you weren't interested in movies or sport then it would be false economy ! ;)
Just done this thanks so much.
Got free installation and the full package for a year for £29 a month

Can I just ask....those who have activated the card through a phone line, did they give sky their correct phone number when they rang originally to get the deal? Many seemed to have given a wrong phone mumber and I wondered how this worked when they activated card??

You'll be asked to go to the services menu then into the 'top secret' installers menu where your box will activate a 'callback',it just rings SKY back to complete the card activation, i bought a 10m extension cable from Poundland (for a £1  ), plugged it in, activated card then disconnected the phone cable and packed it away for next time. voila:D

i've heard you can manually pair the card to the box but Sky don't like it and i think it just increases the chance of problems from a customer service bod, all part of the 'must have a phone line connected' rubbish they always refer back to. OT people have had full installations removed by engineers because they couldn't verify by phone and the engineer gets it in the neck if a phone line isn't present

you might get a problem when you try and pair the box to the new card as it is already assigned to a current contract, if you've not got Sky+ (which needs a manual switch-on by an operator who will see straight away that its still bein used) then you'll probably be ok, the old subscription will just expire normally...........

I just called sky to cancel my subscription. It cancels on 6th April.

Does anyone know how long the 1/2 price offer is on for? How long does it take to set up? Can I leave it until the end of March before ordering the FreeSat offer?

TIP: Regarding Sky asking loads of questions for cancellation, I simply told them that I was emmigrating to Canada in April. Then there where no questions asked, she just cancelled it.

What if you have bought an old box off E-bay and you tell the operater this ? Do you think this would be OK?

    :rolleyes2 :naughty:
