Just a quicky to say hello to all.

I've been very busy at work this week (third week there) and the grim reality of working and running the house has bit me on the bottom today.:o I've just been out and bought eight cheap plastic boxes for washing. Everybody get one for their dirty washing and I have one for everybodies clean clothes. They give me the dirty, I give them the clean. I am sick to death of scurrying about after three other able-bodied people looking for their dirty undies. The worm has turned.:T

My other plan today is to look into off-setting mortgages properly as I did a quick quote yesterday which said we could pay off our mortgage in about six years and save about £100k of interest.:faint: I just want to check if we can get our savings back out if we need to pay the taxman in a hurry.(Self-employed hubby.) I should know all about this as I used to be a banker but I was always crap with my own cash.:rotfl: It's only in the last few years that I've really got to grips with it.

I have to say that this is such a lovely forum, the care and concern that I've seen here in the last three weeks has really warmed the cockles of my heart. I'm not a hugely active poster but I really think this thread in particular shows just how special the internet can be for bringing people together even if only in thought.:A

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Don't manage to get on here too often, especially in the week, so am trying to catch up a little. Just wanted to add my good wishes and hugs to Moggins too - everyone's said it all really, but you're a really inspiring and encouraging person and you mustn't take all the blame to yourself. Hope things work out ok.

HardupHester, sorry to hear your DD'd news, poor girl, I hope she feels better soon and realises that not having adjusted to the reality of the pregnancy doesn't mean it is her fault she miscarried. We blame ourselves for everything, every time.

How awful of her doctor to make a mistake like that! I hope that they have had the mistake pointed out to them in no uncertain terms! Errors of that sort should never, ever happen, at the very least any proceedure being carried out should have been checked with the patient first. Arrrrrghhhh!hearing about that has made me so angry; your poor girl going through so much suffering and it was all avoidable.

*sigh* now you know why I chill out with the ducks every chance I get, doesn't take much to wind me up these days so reading about Hester's poor DD sent me off right the scale :o .

Talking of ducks :p they have just settled for the evening and are quietly chatting to each other, if anyone has heard ducks making their soft noises, not the loud quacks, they will know it is one of the most beautiful sounds imaginable. OK, I'll shut up about them.... for now icon7.gif

Chickadee did you get your grow bags and mini greenhouse? Those grow-bags weigh a tonne! I just brought one home in the shopper :rotfl: I couldn't see any of the greenhouses in my local store but I did spot some of the Monday 5 March special offers, like the plant climbing aid and some of the Greek goods, in there already!

Edited to add: I also got some of those little plant pot feet they had four in a box for £1.99, I got frogs and..... ducks

The thought of smoked trout and steamed vegetables is making my stomach rumble so I'm off for tea.

    Bye for now
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D
Proud to be a chic shopper

Hester, sorry to hear about your daughter, hope your chat has helped her realise she can't blame herself.

Someone remind me never to go shopping on a Saturday again, my head still hurts, car parking, queues, crammed shops, argh!

Well the boys have given us something to think about, they are saying the want to be in the same bedroom. We have done this before but didn't work as DS1 isn't a very good sleeper, so ended up with the boys in one each of the biggest rooms and me and DP in the little room. Going to try to find out why they want to be in the same room and maybe look into moving furntiure etc, see what would fit where, to be honest I would like a larger room again, there is only a small walkway round our bed on 2 sides and DP wakes me every night when he comes in trying to get through the door etc (drawers jammed in behind it) DP has suggested temporarily just moving DS1s bed and see how it goes before deciding, which seems sensible.

Speaking of which time for these two terrors to go to bed once cocoa is finished, got houseowrk catch up to do tonight including a mountain of laundry to sort out! Hope everyone has a nice evening.
One day I might be more organised...........

Justgoing to make my tea of salmon fillet, salad and jacket potato. Yummy!!

Oh and as i just posted on dfw had a lovely surprise this morning, got to the train station and the ticket man who served me yesterday was serving again and recognised me.. he'd charged me £2 yesterday when i usually only pay £1.70, but i didnt question it as im an extreme novice at the train so thought id got it wrong maybe.. !! :o Anyway, without any prompting or anything he said he recognised me from yesterday and realised after id left that hed made a mistake and felt really guilty all day so hoped id be back this morning and then promptly handed me the 30p he'd overcharged me before i got todays ticket!! :D How lovely is that?!!

    (((moggins)))

There is a lot more to support than just earning money. I am a stay at home mum but DH always says it is "our" money and is used for the benefit of the whole family.

He would not dream of just going out and buying gadgets and stuff for himself without finding out what our financial situation was- and without talking things over together. By the same token if I want to spend over a certain amount for something then we discuss it. Mind you, he is even keener on saving money than I am.

Had a good day - went to visit elderly uncle and aunt- DD came down from uni for the day - we had fish and chips and a chocolate cake to celebrate the birthdays we missed.

Still quite full so may not bother with anything else to eat tonight.

    Hugs to all.

Boy am I k*******d, I have cleared out the plastic bag drawer in the kitchen and the tablecloth and mat drawers in the dresser....been up in the loft and fetched down most of the stuff , just have 3 boxes belonging to OH and 2 boxes with caravan stuff in for the boot sale.

DD1 and DGD came, wall cupboards and wardrobe are to be dismantled and we will then take them to the flat and reverse the process.......she put the wardrobe together when we bought it had took it to pieces when we came here, GW this will be the last time it comes to bits!!!!!

We have just had baked gammon toms and chips for supper, I have put 5 more adverts in the local paper for next week and also some more on Ebay...people watching everything but no firm bids yet. Still we have got 8 days to go.......If everything sells I will make enough to cover the cost of the carpet, which will help the budget somewhat.....it will take me a while to recoup the cost of moving, the one estimate I have recieved is for over £500 for moving just around the corner, not even 1/4 of a mile..... how do they justify that...........I am not asking for charity but as we are moving a lot of the stuff ourselves it seems excessive.

Relaxing now with a glass of the red stuff, hope I sleep better tonight!!!!!!!!!beore we go to bed I have to pack away 3 sewing machines so I can get into bed!!!!!
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

That is a crazy price Csarina, I wonder if they added an extra 0 by accident. We used a self hire hire the last time we moved. Thankfully my sisters only moving 3 streets down this time so it's being done by us with my Jeep and plenty of helpers. No suite to move as she wants a new one so new tenant for her house is swapping her for the cooker she has as the house she is moving from has one in. 6 times in a few years she's moved so they have become experts and loads is packed already (will be at least 3 weeks before she moves) I call it her hobby :rotfl:

Sounds like you are almost sorted. Wish I was so organised. Hope you sleep better tonight.

Money wise we also have the 'our' money system, but to stop DP wanting all the time (which has caused arguments before) he gives me a set amount per week, to inc his part towards bills, home, his clothes etc we agreed and any extra he makes (as he's self employed basically and up to him how much he works) is his. Then he buys what he WANTS with that. Hence he's been out an extra 2 nights this week as he WANTS some things. Also any savings I make on things go in my pot which I save up, like savings on grocery bill etc, eBay money etc goes in there too.
One day I might be more organised...........
