Nationwide Mortgages - How long??

  • I think some people just need to be patient. Expecting to hear news everyday is unrealistic and sometimes you just need to sit tight and wait.

I feel all of your pain as a FTB i completed on a nationwide mortgage last month, but checking your phone every 5 minutes does not help and only makes you think of all the scenarios why it could go wrong.

remember you are not the only ones waiting for approval, and sometimes its a case of waiting in line.

At first i was the same as you guys but in the end i left it in the hands of my broker and it turned out i was worrying over nothing. Some will go through in days, some will go through in weeks. Sometimes it can take a week to receive a text, sometimes a day. You will not know which one that will be until the end of the process.

Good luck to all of you!

    My timeline:
    10april DIP
    11 April full application
    11 April valuation
    12 April valuation satisfactory txt
15 April valuation brought up flooding concerns
16 April nationwide asked for information regarding flooding from vendor.

All in all very impressed with Nationwide so far always let my broker know what they need from me if anything. It might help that my broker is really good and on the ball though, now to play the waiting game something I am rubbish at!!!

I think they are taking unusually long, I applied on 4th but valuation only went through yesterday.

I think it depends on how quickly they can get a valuer out. Mine was same day but guessing they were already in the area.

Had problems with employers reference. Reference requested and took 2 weeks for it to arrive at work and when it was sent back it was missing the job title.
Had to do it again so now patiently waiting again.

I just got a text, typical! It said -

Your valuation has been rescheduled to be carried out on . Your valuer will be in contact if they need access to your property.

    How strange!

I had a text yesterday to say valuation was booked for 15.04.2013 and another today to say valuation booked for 16.04.2013

    What's that all about!

FWIW we phone the call centre and give them the email address of the person who handles HR. They send the reference request there and then and we normally get them actioned the same day.

No idea if the applicant can do that.

We have been about 3 1/2 weeks now and both us and our buyers are with Nationwide, both existing and porting.

Not really impressed so far to be honest, I have received no text updates despite signing up to that service. The valuation was arranged and carried out almost straight away but I have received no feedback at all. We did get a couple of queries come through which I responded to but that's it so far.

Our buyers paid for the survey 2 weeks ago but nothing has been arranged so far.

All in all it feels very slow and cumbersome which is a shame as I have always been quite impressed with them and even bank with them.
Porting applications are "paper-based" and the system is not as slick. Most other stuff is done on the online system and it's more slick.

Well I seem to have a issue, that I have to wait to the 25th of this month to forward a payslip due to a salary increase which comes into effect from this month, obviously my previous slips show my old salary......

Very annoying to have to wait just to the 25th just to send the letter with slip off.
No you don't. Let them obtain employer's reference instead.

Do customers with mortgage brokers get their paperwork thru the mill more quickly? Or is it neither here nor there?

Guys, Once valuation is done and is accepted by Nationwide. You send and forward your payslips etc.

What is the next stage? what is next?
Offer, if everything else is back and satisfactory.
