Nationwide Mortgages - How long??

  • Wahey, just received a text message from Nationwide informing me that they have "now issued a formal mortgage offer".

From the experience of others who've just gone through this process, how long does it take from the offer being issued to me and my solicitor receiving it (by post?)?

    Updated progress:

29th January 2013: First meeting with Nationwide mortgage advisor
4th February 2013: Offer accepted on house
7th February 2013: Second meeting with MA - obtained AIP
12th February 2013: Notified that survey would take place on 14th Feb
13th February 2013: Notified that survey would take place on 20th Feb
20th February 2013: Survey doesn't take place due to mix-up on times between vendor and surveyors
25th February 2013: Notified that survey would take place on 27th Feb.
27th February 2013: Valuation survey carried out
    28th February 2013: Valuation satisfactory
13th March 2013: Formal mortgage offer issued

    Well done,
We had our valuation done last Monday, this Monday they said they didn't have our ID documents, we told them that they did, they then found them and have told us its going to take another week despite it being their mistake. GRRRR!
  • We are just doing our mortgage with Nationwide and having the valuation tomorrow. We have just received a pack from the solicitors with the costs but I'm really confused as there are two quotes for searches, one £254.20 or £299 using a search guard pack? Apparently the only difference is you can you search guard on your next property (within 12 weeks) if this falls through so no use to us. Would £254.20 be about right for searches? I just don't want to not pay the extra £40 and be stung later on for other searches.

We have also been quoted £90 land transaction fee. On top of this there's a whole list of costs that we might have to pay for but what are the likely ones? The nationwide list had things like storage fee and scanning fees so will we need to add these to the solicitors?

Other question- might sound like a daft one but after reading their huge list of potential charges, are we charged when we ring them?!!

£254 was the exact charge from NW for my valuation on Monday so that would seem spot on.

I just received the paperwork from my solicitor appointed by Nationwide (Total conveyancing Services) but was not given the option and was told it was £299 including safeguard.

If this sale falls through I wont be purchasing again within 6 months so can I ask for it to not be included?

We have a tick box on the documents sent from the solicitors to say if we want to use safeguard or the standard searches, I'm just interested to find out if £250 sounds about right because most websites say searches should be no more than £160.

I Guess I will just have to agree to it since I didn't get offered the option?

I also thought searches were £150-£200 in SE london
  • I have been following this thread for some time and wanted to make a contribution:

We have had a save to buy account for around 8 months in order to take advantage of the 95% LTV mortgage. We had our initial meeting on Saturday and had a formal offer today:

30th January 2013: DiP issued by telephone by Nationwide
Saturday 9th March 2013: Full mortgage application submitted in branch. The delay between this and DiP was our choice.
Monday 11th March 2013: Arranged valuation
Tuesday 12th March 2013: Valuation carried out
Wednesday 13th March 2013: Valuation accepted by Nationwide
Thursday 14th March 2013: Offer of mortgage received.

Mightily impressed by Nationwide so far, just hope their appointed solicitors are as efficient!

Obtained DIP in December but a new build so had to wait until now to put in full application.

    Full application submitted on 5/3/13

Valuation booked on the same day for 11/3/13

    Asked for:

    P60
    Most recent payslip
    Proof of identity
    Proof of address.

Fingers, legs and toes now crossed for a speedy resolution

    DIP agreed December 2012
Full Application submitted 5th March (delay based on completion date of new build)
    Valuation Completed 11th March
    Valuation Confirmed Satisfactory 13th March
Full Offer emailed by NW 14th March

Very impressed with them and Lifetime Planning who were my advisors:T

    Im over the moon now!:j:j:j
