Nationwide Mortgages - How long??

Quick update from my Mortgage Advisor:
"Just to let you know that the mortgage offer should be done this week, now the valuation has been done."0 -
We submitted our mortgage application about 3 weeks ago now, at first Nationwide came back with the fact we had undeclared commitments. It turns out it was our student loans and the childcare vouchers I get through my salary sacrifice at work. They also said we'd need to have any credit cards clear before completion. So, our mortgage advisor put in a paper material change form. That took about a week to 'process', then they cam back asking if we paid any extra in childcare, I don't, so another material change form was submitted with this information..........
The next day they come back to me saying we don't meet the affordability requirements, they've gone on my last 3 months wage slips but I've only just returned to work after my maternity leave! Anyway they sent for an employee reference which was returned to them immediately via email. My broker checked they'd received it on Friday and apparently they had. I rang the broker again yesterday to see if they'd heard anything, upon another conversation with Nationwide apparently they hadn't recevied the reference! Argh! It just seems like we're one step forward 2 steps back all the time. I'm apparently now just waiting on some monkey somewhere to process my employee reference form before we hear back that we're ok to get the mortgage. My broker said I'd been on maternity leave and they'd need to go for reference from the start, it just feels like they're stalling all the time. In the meantime another couple have had their mortgage approved even without receiving the bank statements of one of the applicants - thats fair isn't it! Never mind. I've got everything crossed I hear back soon..................0 -

Good news! I was about to ask how long it'd taken, until I read your signature. The same length of time should mean I'll have my offer around the end of this week/beginning of next
Now, if only the solicitor side of the process would run as quick...0 -

This thread has been really useful for me to see all of your timelines, seem to be at a similar timeline with some of the recent posts:

18th February 2013: Offer accepted on house
18th February 2013: Mortgage application
25th February 2013: Valuation

Iv had to call Nationwide almost every day for a month odd to chase them.
They originally asked me to send :
P60
6 months bank statements
Latest wgae slip
After telling me they could accept online prints with my banks URL or copies from my bank (high street branch) with their officeial stamp this was untrue. I sent them both these options which they declined. So trying to do it quick and not wait for the bank to post me a set out was a waste of time.
My P60 didnt have my current address so I had to send a utility bill. This also took a week to obtain.
After this they wanted a reference from my current landlord. Myself and him do not get on so he dragged his heels for a while.
Finally I was off on holiday and had been assured they didnt need any further information and as soon as they reviewed my reference they would issue my mortgage. While on holiday I called and was told they needed to see my passport or driving license both of which I had (in Moscow). I was told a birth certificate could be accepted.
I called home and had my mum take the birth certificate into branch to be faxed through. Called Nationwide a few days later to be inform they cannot accept a birth certificate. I was not please at all and told them to go listen to what I had been told by another agent. 20 minutes on hold still in Moscow the agent came back and told me they apologies for this mistake and they would issue the mortgage offer due to the amount of information already supplied.
Days later I get an email from my Solicitor who informs me she has the offer but it has a small error in the address. Calling Nationwide again the said they would change the offer and post it out. A week later still no offfer.
Im due to complete a week on Friday and less than happy with Nationwide. After completion I plan on making a full complaint about the service I have received from them.
Nationwide always leave you waiting. They never inform you that you need to send more information unless you call and ask them.0 -
