I have had a good experience with nationwide:

22 December 2012 Offer accepted on house
3 January 2013 application submitted in branch and mortgage in principle agreed
    8 January 2013 Valuation
    9 January 2013 Valuation satisfactory
10 January 2013 Nationwide mortgage adviser informs me that offer has been sent out (awaiting paper documents in post)

90% ltv mortgage and quite close on affordability so not necessarily a straight forward case.

Congratulation Johnhill!!! :j Our situation is also similar.

80% LTV mortgage and well under on affordability.

15 December 2012 - Offer accepted on House
18 December 2012 - Mortgage in Principle accepted via broker within 5 mins.
19 December 2012 - Seller withdrawn our offer so have to go for second house

03 Jan 2013 - Offer accepted for our second house
09 Jan 2013 - Mortgage application sent via broker and msg received that application has been processed.
11 Jan 2013 - State agent emailed me that the survey has been booked for 17th Jan'13.
    17 Jan 2013 - Survey pending...

I hope our decision will also be fast...:)

My mortgage in principle was initially accepted followed by full application with Nationwide (still waiting for decision). I applied through broker. Now my suvey has been booked for next week 17th Jan'13. If my house survey report will satisfactory, then would I assume my mortgage application is accepted? or it can still be declined...??:(.

The reason why I am asking this question is because I have appointed as solicitor for conveyncing services and they are asking for upfront cost with signed contract. I don't want to signed contract and pay money until the satisfactory survey report and mortgage approval. Please can anyone advice...? much appreciated..

I just checked my experian report and find out that Nationwide did unrecorded search today 14/01/2013. My survey valuation is on 17th Jan'13. Does it means that they are deciding my application??

I need to give notice to my house landlord and also need to signed contract with my solicitor for convenyence etc.

  • Just a quick question, I received my text of a mortgage offer on 7th January, my formal offer came in post on saturday 12 January but my solicitors have not had the offer yet? I know im inpatient but the only thing holding up the purchase of new house is the paperwork for the offer. Should I chase the lender or leave it for a bit? Im keen to get this sorted as quickly as possible, is it that its just taking ages in the post?

I keyed a Nationwide application on Saturday, uploaded all the documentation on Sunday and had the valuer instructed immediately. I'm just waiting for the valuation to be done and the report uploaded and the case should be offered immediately.

Well-packaged, straightforward, cases are (and should be) going pretty much straight through the system.
    Application submitted 04/01/13.

    Offered 16/01/13.

One or two annoyances getting docs into a format acceptable to the Nationwide system and still "legible" but otherwise straightforward.

May I ask what documents you had to send?

I have just applied for a mortgage with nationwide and was not asked to send any documents.

    Thanks

    Property value £49000
    Deposit £15000
    LTV 31% (nearly)

    Nationwide AIP on 13.01.13
Verbal offer for property on the 16.01.13
    Written offer 18.01.13
    Valuation on 21.01.13

Iv been asked to send in 6 months of bank statements (very worried as I use it all the time) P60 and latest wage slip. Waiting for Nationwide to send me a letter telling me to send these documents but no word yet.

Valuation and solicitor both arranged by Nationwide and seem to be moving pretty fast. Will keep you posted on time scales with my fingers crossed.

21st Jan 13 - Nationwide received form by employer and within an hour mortgage offer accepted. :j
