I went in to one today and the young lady serving said "oh - we've had a lot of Pauls today"; I nearly replied that the only "Jess" (that's what was on her name badge) I'd heard of was Postman Pat's cat.

Do you have a B. Sc. eng or a B. Eng? Do you design whitegoods? Did you do a 7 year professional apprenticeship like my dad instead or a graduate degree?

Confused - what does that have to do with starbucks / coffee?

It's a reply to the post quoted in my post above, just like I quoted your post in this reply; I can't imagine why you find it confusing.

Because engineering & repairing have nothing to do with this topic, and you seem to have been the first to bring them into the discussion.

If you have some issues with the other poster, bringing a thread way off topic isn't the place to air them.

Neither has the quality of Stabucks Coffee, Cafe Nero, Costa, or American unions.

I do not know why you imagine you get to say what people do and don't bring into the conversation, but it's not your call. You don't like my posts you can always put me on ignore. If I want to comment on technical and repair staff calling themselves engineers or ask if someone is actualy an engineer (in which case fiar play to them, it's a proffesional qualification which is being eroded by non engineers stealing the title) or a Walter Mitty I can if I want.

Sorry you find it hard to keep up, but that's life.

I think the quality of Starbucks coffee, and other Coffee shops has a fair bit to do with a thread about Starbucks, even if not 100% on topic.

Some indifference you have with another forum member over whether or not they're an engineer, however, does not.
I do not know why you imagine you get to say what people do and don't bring into the conversation, but it's not your call.

Nothing to do with it being my say, but it's in the forum rules, and not to mention common decency

Considering it - you'll have the honour of being the first.

Then start your own thread on the subject - on an appropriate board, on an appropriate website.

It's a thread about giving your name to Starbuck's staff nothing to do with how good or bad their coffee is.

    [/URL]

That does specify for money saving discussions, nothing money saving about giving your name, not giving your name or being put out by being asked is there?

If you feel that way though - you will understand that I see you as a hypocrite as your issue with me has just as little to do with the original topic than my replies and queries. You seem to be imagining that you are a self appointed forum special constable or something. Perhaps you could use the report post button next time if you feel I am breaking the rules instead of feeding your ego?

    Yes, yes I do.
I even cut out a little cardboard star and cover it in tinfoil to pin to my chest.
I'd have used gold foil, but I'm only a deputy you see. Thinking of promoting myself to Sheriff though. What do you think?

I think raising the issue of the quality of coffee is perfectly valid in a discussion about Starbucks on a money-saving forum. After all, saving money is not just about cost, but about value.

With a Starbucks card, i use to get a filter coffee in central London for £1, and I could sit and use their free WiFi. That's hardly bad value?

Anything beyond a filter coffee is a luxury, and you're paying for that. I like a nice vanilla latte if I fancy a treat. Is it expensive? Yep. But so is beer and wine.

Like most things in life - if you don't like it, don't buy it. If you think it's too expensive then take your flask of weak cold tea with you and stop complaining. I'd also prefer someone called out 'ringo, your coffee is ready' then 'Venti vanilla latte ready'

(if it helps this discussion, my dad is a chartered engineer with a specialism in metallurgy, but these days he's more into IT systems. To muddy the water, I use to be an 'interface architect' yet I never went to uni for 7 years and designed buildings - these days i'm just a Consultant)
