Mothers of boys - when do you

stop going in the bathroom when they are in there?
stop them coming into the bathroom when you are in the bath?
stop them walking round the house in the nip?

i was brought up only seeing my parents covered from head to toe and they were terribly prudish.
i don't want to be like them.
i'm totally comfortable with relaxed attitudes to bodies but wondered what the general consensus is.

You'll be stunned at the change in their attitude when they become teenagers.

My younger brother wouldn't even allow me to feel for a hernia the other day - he's 33! - on account of the fact that I might go near his "old boy", despite the fact that to me it's all in a day's work. That is the degree of irrational sensitivity I am talking about.

I dont know tbh, I would see how it goes, as soon as someone feels uncomfortable things will change.

I'd take my cue from them - if they're comfortable and you're comfortable, I wouldn't worry about it. They'll start keeping their pants on when they feel embarrassed. I'd stop them wandering around in the scuddy nuddy if there were visitors around though!

My 14 yo daughter still sees me in the buff but not gratuitously IYKWIM.

I think my son (20) has inadvertantly seen me starkers in the last few years and I only hope he's not too traumatised!

simple answer - when you walk in the bathroom and they go ' OHHHH mum - I'm having a bath! and if you are used to walking about in the nuddy - the kids covering their eyes is a big clue! or muttering 'thats disgusting'! Its impossible to say at what age this happens - every child is different!

Don't worry, they'll let you know when it's time. Until then, enjoy your relaxed attitude.

    What lovely sensible replies.
    I'm encouraged and reassured.
Just didn't want to traumatise them and I realise soon enough they be shrieking at me to get out....

i agree about the nice replies i would have expected at least 1 eeeww you weirdo reply :p

My son is 5 my daughter 8 and we still are all fine with being naked around each other - although I don't tend to actually walk around the house naked alot, but in the shower / bath / getting changed no problem.

I agree they will let you know when they are uncomfortable with the 'ooohh muuuuum!'

just as a little side note, my best friend (when at senior school) had parents who were naturists, and I did find THAT a little bit awkward. but even that became 'normal' after a while.

I don't think there's a universal age, I think meritain's answer summed it up rather well! our little one is 3 and we're fairly open with him in terms of not flaunting our bits but not being ashamed of them either, everyone's got them! although the other day he did ask where my willy was lol!
