Echoing Robin's wise words that replacement needed but Id say urgently for handover or he'll likely leave it til last minute (i.e Christmas Eve). It's not on his urgent list or he wouldn't have allowed the interruption.

Prayers for your sister, and of course for you
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • Post 5000!!!!!

Looking forward to seeing the new diary!

I'm sending hugs and positive thoughts for your sister's partner :( xxx

  • Looking forward to the new diary lucky and glad to hear you have 'given notice' on beavers, you've more than done your fair share. Just for info I work in transplant science and outcomes for heart transplants are very good these days. If she hasn't had any pregnancies or many blood transfusions she shouldn't have produced many antibodies so there is a good chance of finding a suitable donor.

Chin up love and wishing you an enjoyable November xx

Thank you so much for this info Nicky, you don't know how much it means to me! The only knowledge I had about transplants was the death of someone local who went in for the op in August and never woke up again :(. She was only 42 and had been on the list 4 years.

Sister came round tonight which was fab as I hadn't seen her for about 6 weeks. She and SIL-to-be have been trying hard to switch to a veggie diet Robin. They gave up alcohol yonks ago and they are trying to stay happy and positive while they wait for the appointment to come through for the next step.

  • Mixed bag of a day! Went to the gym this morning with DH, all fine. Got home and he had 'waves of fear' so been on alert for seizure all day which thankfully has not happened thus far.

GSL called me about badges for Beavers. He started on about me needing to do this and that and I just said "is this really necessary when I'm packing in?", to which he said he was hoping if he ignored I'd said it, I'd change my mind!!!! Erm, no!!!! Told him yet again that it was my final word on the matter and that it hadn't been a snap decision. Seems to have accepted it now.

Sis came for tea as I've already mentioned, and then we went to watch the fireworks. Got stuck in traffic and missed the start, so we parked up along the road and watched the rest from there. Saved £10 on getting us all in to the actual event which is :j:T.

  • I was super proud of you when i read the first Beavers post. But now I am BURSTING! Well done Lucky on telling him what for!! No it isn't necessary and sticking his head in the sand isn't for you to worry about. Well done you and I hope you can enjoy the last few weeks with the kids now that you know it isn't forever! A nice start to the new year, and a resolution to join clubbercise ;)

    Hugs!!

  • PLMBL - you have done so well to make it clear to your GSL that you won't be continuing. People said on here that they thought he was avoiding the subject and he confirmed it.

Hope you join clubbercise - it sounds really good fun!!

Sorry to hear about sister's partner - positive thoughts that it all works out ok with the transplant.
  • Well done for remaining firm on the matter! :T xx

I quite fancy the clubbercise too sounds good fun! Xx

I think many of us recognised facets of this man's character from what you have written, Lucky. Reckon it would be a good idea to follow up that 'phone call with a letter confirming your position because I for one, still don't think he'll take your decision seriously.
Maybe he has a shortage of new leaders, but that's not your problem. Your health and sanity is...

Once your letter has reached GSL, give him a week and then call him to see when your replacement will be starting the hand-over? Repeat at weekly intervals but meanwhile, do please keep refusing all extra work which would extend the hour's prep for Beavers' meetings.
