    Hi Knit Witch!!

That was me, hence I googled and ended up buying it I got so addicted!!

It is https://www.youneedabudget.com - they provide software, seminars, rules and email guides. The only bit that costs anything is the software, but I cannot recommend it highly enough. I don't see my 'bank balance' as my money any more. Everything has a purpose, and all those pots, envelopes and savings accounts that others have are just categories in my budget on there, which I skip money in and out of depending on what I have coming up. The aim is to assign every penny coming in a 'job' so all the bills etc, then all the stuff besides, like hair cuts, takeaways etc. Seeing categories hit red stops me in my tracks and I think hard before a: spending, and b: moving money out of other pots to fund overspends.

Sorry I sound like a commercial!!

  • You are all so sweet and are definitely my 'women of the year' Xx

Lilt I know I have the luxury of time on my side, but I do my shopping split between Mr A, Mr T and Morries with the occasional Mr Al thrown in! I do get 10% off at Mr A which helps and of course I'm there at least once a week while at work so I stock up then. Mr T is actually my closest supermarket (though none of them are far) and I do get quite a few vouchers from them with their mystery shopping programme and clubc@rd so it's often worth going there, and lastly Morries is next to my gym so in a normal week I have the opportunity to pop in 3 times per week. I try to get all the deals going!!

DH has been having waves of fear again tonight. It's 8 weeks today since the last seizure so it feels like danger time, but that said, he's had several dodgy days in the last 8 weeks which didn't go to full seizure. Fingers crossed Xx

  • Crossing my fingers and everything else I can for DH Lucky. The power of positive thinking!

I do have a big bundle of 'time' myself, as I work Weds to Fri during the day. I try not to do those 'top-up' shops as that is what leads me to spending 400+ a month on food for 1 and a half adults and a fussy child who lives off marmite on toast and pasta with ketchup and ham!

I have started in the last few weeks with my meal plans, shopping in L!dl, Mr A's & Iceland if there is something I know is cheaper there. I have a Mr T's about 15 mins walk from work, so do-able in the lunch hour but not for much or I end up carrying it 3 miles back to work then home! My colleague actually goes religiously on a Thurs night and picks me up teabags when asked as they are better/cheaper there! I have a Mr S, a Mr A and L!dl all within 5 minutes walk from home. If I plan it out and am not lazy, I can cut my shop to about £35 a week with no need for anything else! This, in my house is nothing short of incredible, although there will come a time when all the stuff I have stored in the cupboards has been used... My sister just got me a 5kg bag of tiny fusili pasta for free though!! From her work :D love her!

Mystery shopping sounds fun. I have been asked to mystery shop the Hal!fax! Go in, order a product, credit card, loan etc... and basically mark them on compliance :D I get it all scrubbed off my history afterwards and get paid! This and 5 free 10g bars of Lindt 'Hello my name is' chocolate, with 2 free treat size bars and loads of vouchers has made my week :D

Hugs, will be sending you and DH good vibes all night! xx

  • Hey lilt, mini seizures didn't turn into full seizures last night (:T), though have returned tonight (:(). Fingers crossed they again amount to nothing, but I'm glad we have a routine appointment with the Epilepsy Nurse scheduled for Thursday.

This morning everyone slept in until 8am :j. That's quite a lie in for us! That, coupled with MiL having a drama with her computer which she needed help with meant that we didn't really get sorted until after lunch. DS2 requested a trip to the farm activity centre that we have passes for so we went there. They have this big bouncy 'pillow' there which is a bit like a bouncy castle fixed into the ground. Anyway, whilst showing off his front flips, DS1 split his trousers :o. Cue lots of crying and him wanting to go home!! We had just about convinced him that it wasn't too noticeable when it started raining anyway so we headed home and had a dvd afternoon instead!

New driving licence has arrived. Photo is shocking!!

Apparently there will be more fruit and veg vouchers in Thursday's paper :T. You should stock up now your fridge is working Lilt :p.

BRILLIANT!!! Fingers crossed and super powerful vibes coming your way for tonight. I was a bit worried when you were quiet, (even after posting on my diary this morning derrr) but now I see it is just your usual frenetic activity. Have I ever told you what a brilliant mum you are? I felt all supermumlike just making krispie cakes and letting jellytot paint everything in the vicinity without caring yesterday. We do NOT get outside enough let alone to places!! You really are a marvel.

Also, I am on the vouchers :D:D thank you so much for the heads up! I will get a couple and go for a mooch. I am having a spendy day tomorrow so shall put away 80p for the paper(s) :D

On the fridge... man I am so stupid. I thought it was degrees. MIL is a genius however, and mum said after I told her... Oh! Mine is on 6!! I don't know how many times I have told her about the fridge in the past few weeks including, 'I've got it on number 1!' and had nothing except, oh dear, it must still be in warranty, try switching it off for an hour to reboot... :rotfl:

    Hugs to you.. xx
