  • Sorry to hear your DS1 is also being a pain DF(w). I have to say my afternoon got better in terms of his behaviour but not before lots of tears from both of us. See how long his better behaviour lasts!

Sparky, we got the confirmation in the post today that the £500 is indeed back money owed and nothing to do with 'normal' payments. However, our 'normal' payments will also be increasing by around £60 a fortnight :j. I think therefore that we should go ahead with a trip or two (even though it's soooooo tempting to clear the smallest debt with it!).

DH been a bit more 'normal' today although still very tired. He's slept in the last 3 mornings and I've been up early with DS2 each time. I'm wrecked!

Sorry I did not get a chance to pop back, I'm thinking about retiring early so I can at least catch up on MSE - sometimes I go 2 or 3 days without being on here.

If I had come back I would have said about the premiums but the one I thought you would get didn't equate to the amount you received so it threw me a bit!!

There are normal disability premiums, enhanced disability premiums and severe disability premiums and of course you should have a carer premium if you get Carers Allowance for DH.

Glad you have some extra money each week, it will certainly ease the pressure a lot for you.

Hope you can get out and about for some trips even with this dire weather:T

    Morning PLMBL,

I definitely agree with using some of the money to have a night away. You wouldn't have to spend the whole amount. Or how about using the £500 to save and pay things off and using the extra £60 a fortnight to have your days out etc? Just an idea if that would work out better in your head?!

Thanks EE, I was surprised at the change too, although I think it coincides with them putting my earnings right, as they were deducting too much before. They now have me (correctly) earning just 23p a week over the threshold.

DH gets extra money because I'm a carer, extra because of disability income guarantee, money towards housing costs and money for the support group. Less my carers allowance and my 23p a week income :D.

Thanks Mummy. I think it's just a shift in my mindset between wanting to get debt free as quickly as possible so life is easier 24/7, and actually enjoying life between now and then as it were. If I'm honest, I feel I worked hard for that £500 and I want to reward us all a little. On the other hand, I'm so tight now that everything seems so expensive and I get so disappointed that we can't do 10 things with £500 :o.

I have, however, sent £40 of it this morning to Bcard. After the normal direct debit goes out on Tuesday, I will 'only' owe £150 on there. I can clear that during June and then I will have avoided paying any interest before the 0% runs out 1st July :T.

Just popping in to say "Hi" Lucky as I haven't been able to catch up on diaries for a while. Such good news about the back payment. Make sure you treat yourself too!

I really wish you would treat yourself out of that money Lucky. Why not compromise and spend half then use the rest for debt.

  • Been at work already today, started at 7am. It was wonderful to walk out at 10am knowing I was done for the day :D.

Met my Mum & Grandma (Auntie is on holiday) at the cafe in the park. It's been lovely and sunny here today so the kids had a great time playing on the park equipment and paddling in the water feature. Grandma paid for the drinks, but still haven't achieved a NSD as I grabbed a few bits of shopping when I finished work. That makes just 3 NSDs this month :(. Late afternoon has been spent in the garden :T.

Still need to book Edinburgh. Need to be brave :rotfl:.

Even one NSD is a day when your money stays with you - so well done on the three!
