Is it possible to ring Mr L's GP to log seizures? Great that you're already doing a diary.

I just wish you had more hands on support.

If you have to ring 999 what happens about the children - do they have to be woken up to go to the hospital with you?
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Come to find you first today, Lucky; glad to read MrL recovered without further TC incidents, not so glad that his seizure was followed so fast by another 'waves of fear' one.

Hard to know what to suggest; go to the GP yourself to explain that you're on the verge of exhaustion and desperately need some kind of respite put in place?

Or you could contact the Brain Injuries Trust yourself:

    http://www.autism-awareness.org.uk/referrals/brain-injury.aspx

Haven't a clue why the address for this page is labelled 'autism awareness' - the charity is definitely for those with Acquired Brain Injury (plus autism and a couple of other health issues). They claim to offer home support right across the UK, and it doesn't matter that MrL suffered his injury a while ago, so what have you got to lose (an hour or so filling out their form)?

Having seen how much help BIRT gave my mate on his journey to recovery, if I were in your position I would contact them - GPs are too busy, and not specialists of course, so 'direct action' seems more likely to achieve a better result.

Hope today is a good day at Chez Lucky. :)
  • Thanks again everyone! DH had one more 'waves of fear' mini seizure later on last night but has otherwise been ok. He has been stuffing sugary foods down him like there is no tomorrow, but that is normal for post seizure.

Satchmo, if I had to ring 999, I'd then ring MiL who only lives 5 mins away and she comes round so I don't have to disturb boys. I need to ring the Epilepsy Nurse just to tell her we are back to full seizures and see what she says. I've had to call her about something or other after every other seizure so hopefully they are all logged thus far anyway. We see the GP next week and I'll ask her about logging his seizures also.

Robin, thanks for your info as usual. I really appreciate you going the extra mile and providing your very useful links. I shall have a good read now as we are currently sat waiting to see the Consultant Endocrinologist at Hexham hospital and they are running 90mins late . Thank god the car parking is free here today as they are changing the payment machines. I've had to ring MiL to ask her to be on standby to collect DS2 from nursery as we probably wont make it back in time. Not exactly ideal, what if she'd been busy???

  • Indeed, what if she had been busy!! I love Hexham. Its a lovely town.
    Trying to shift that debt!
  • Didn't see much of it today SBO, though it seemed really busy on the roads for some reason. It took ages to get in and out as the traffic was backed up in both directions. It was 1.30pm when we got back to collect DS2 from MiL! We should have been at school to collect him at 11.55am, thank goodness MiL was free to get him!

I've spoken to the Epilepsy Nurse, albeit briefly as she was in a meeting. DH is to increase one of his meds from tonight and I will speak to her again on Monday to discuss it further after she's had chance to speak to the Consultant.

  • I managed my night out last night :j. In the real world :D. With real people :rotfl:. We had a lovely time, food and company were both excellent (although I was naughty and had a pizza even though I'd convinced myself all day that I'd be good and stick to a tomato based pasta :o). I also had a few glasses of wine. The scales will not be pretty on Tuesday as I can't get away with anything :(. Never mind, it was worth it, though I'm shattered today.

This morning has been the Beavers/Cubs/Scouts coffee morning and raffle so it's been an early start and a busy one. We haven't counted up the totals yet but it looks like we've done well. Our new hut goes up in June so all the money goes towards that.

Just having a late lunch then I'm at work tonight. It's the St George's Day Service tomorrow also. I'll be pleased when it's all done and I can relax.

Oooh, just had a call from my Mum whilst typing, offering to have the boys sleep over tonight :T:T Xx
