When I asked for luck I didn't mean the bad variety!!!

Thanks everyone! When I changed energy provider 18 months or so ago all calculations were based on our previous usage which was mainly pre LBM and with a small baby in the house, so the heating was on A LOT. We have since cut right back on our usage so I'm not entirely surprised we haven't used what they expected us to. I've only asked them to reduce our monthly payment by £15 though even though they were willing to reduce it much more. I'd hate to owe them after winter rather than the other way round.
I can't decide what to do with the cash. I'm tempted to pay it off debts, but we also need curtain poles for the 2 windows in our bedroom so we can put the curtains up. I'd love a new carpet in our room or on the stairs too. It's obviously not going to stretch to all that though! Decisions, decisions but in a good way!
We've been to the school Carol Concert at the village church this morning and then back to the school for refreshments and the raffle draw. DS2 was most disappointed that we didn't win anything, especially when 2 of his little friends did! Looking forward to getting my big lad home at 3pm and the christmas can start properly! Well, it can when I finish work tonight anyway!! XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

When we moved into our house, it has no curtain poles
. We bought all ours from Ebay, they were lovely ornate white ones and sure even the large ones only cost around £10-£15 each.
I wonder if you could find a remnant in a carpet shop for your bedroom?. Might be pushing it to carpet the stairs too, but you never know.
It is tempting to pay it off the debts, but then often it takes years to debt clear and the house does need maintaining during this time too. Its not like you are buying a new playstation 4 with it or anything.
Fab that you have finished for Christmas. My Christmas will start on sunday, still got work to do today xxx0 -
Brilliant news on the electricity pay back
I can't get the smilies to work
any how.
carpet - I would try e bay for a remnant or I have seen some good stuff on Preloved? Obviously that is in my area but you never know!
Although I'd buy from a pet free home cos of fleas or if it is a good deal flea spray!
Ebay is the answer for curtain poles or argos, what about Ikea for curtains? January sales at Linens direct are good too.
I don't think it should go on the debt, you work sodding hard and this is a windfall, you deserve a lovely house at least!
xxxxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Catching up and reading all the good stuff like refunds :j YAY!!
I am with the guys and gals here suggesting that you do get some carpet and curtains..and I say that partly as they will keep your house warmer, which will keep bills down and our polar bears alive for longer!! I was in a friends new house yesterday and she has a draughty Victorian job like me..but her house is much warmer..but she has carpet and we have floorboards. So worth getting I think!

Thanks for the input everyone! I would never have thought of eb@y for curtain poles! We've been lucky enough to have been gifted some beautiful (and very expensive!) curtains by MiL's friend when she moved house recently. They will transform the room so a couple of curtain poles are a very small price to pay. As for carpet, we still have the one down that was there when we moved in 12 years ago. It has DEFINITELY seen better days. Our room is very big though so it will be expensive to replace even with a cheap carpet.
Friday night at work was busy but not as horrendous as I thought it'd be. There were less customers than I expected but as everyone was ordering 4/6/8 pizzas each we were still flat out. I'm pleased that's me done until after Christmas though.
Yesterday DS2 was at a party which was great, then met the usual suspects for coffee and to swap Christmas presents. Afterwards we went to visit MiL's friend (the one who donated the curtains!) with her present too. A busy but enjoyable day. I spent £2.30 on a hot drink at the party and Grandma gave me £5 to pay for the drinks with her (which only came to £2.25) and told me to keep the change, so overall I ended the day 45p up!! Almost tempted to bend the rules and call it a NSD.
Forgot to say, made a donation to the foodbank when shopping the other day. Thought I'd pay a little of my good fortune forward.Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j
