Ah thank you! So kind of you to say :o. I don't feel very amazing, but I'm glad you think so! I'm amazed I have any lurkers, I just write dross most of the time :o.

So today was the Christening and it was a great service, and a really lovely do afterwards. My boys were impeccably behaved and we only spent £7 on soft drinks while we were there. All good...

    But

The Father that took the service also lead my Dad's funeral and that took me back a bit. He was a stand in Priest as their normal one has had a heart attack, so I wasn't expecting to see him. I don't know why this bothered me so much but it did. I then started thinking about what a Christening of twins would be like and that didn't cheer me up any obviously. I don't know where the dark mood came from but it's been hard to shake it off.

The wind is getting up here and we've had some heavy rain. We are only supposed to get the tail end of the storm here tonight/tomorrow though. Hope everyone reading stays safe Xx

  • It's funny how these things hit us at odd moments.

DS and I were working yesterday and we picked up a McD's on way back home. I then had an awful urge to go and visit my Mum and Dad in cemetery. DS and I sat and chatted in car next to grave and ate our Maccy D's and had a lovely old time. The cemetery is on the hill directly across from where we live and you can see our house from where they are. We had a grand old time pointing out landmarks to one another and then reminiscing about my Mum. So not a bad experience this time for me but a nice smiley one. But many many times I have gone up there a wee run and ended up in bits all the rest of the day. No rhyme or reason to these things

  • I think the combination of wondering about the twins' christening and unexpectedly seeing the man who officiated at your Dad's funeral would be enough to set anyone off.

And I agree, it's the funny, little things that can hit a nerve. I remember walking the five minutes from the tube station to work one morning. On the way, I came across a gentleman collecting for the RAF Benevolent Fund. I start scrabbling for my purse and the thought process is "RAF-must almost be Battle of Britain Day-that's near Dad's birthday-OMG, I forgot Dad's birthday! Then came the tears and I cried the rest of the way to the office. Heaven only knows what the poor chap collecting the money thought.

Thanks MiT and JAT. I'm again sorry for your repective losses/sad days but I'm glad to hear it's not just me. I'm feeling better about everything today and not quite as much of a fruit loop!!

DS2 got up super early this morning (clock changes mean nothing when you are a 3 year old!) but DH was wide awake so he said he would get up with him. I had another hours sleep but when I got up I immediately thought I'd done the wrong thing. DH looked a bit vacant and seemed slow so I packed him off to bed again. He slept for another couple of hours and thankfully seemed better when he woke again.

Meanwhile I'd made some cauliflower cheese soup! It was tasty but a bit thin so I added some cooked plain pasta I had left over from making a bit too much last night. It was spot on then!

No sign of any storm activity here today so I wrapped everyone up after lunch and bundled them off to a local English Heritage place. We are members so the idea was to have a free day out. However the boys spied some things in the shop the wanted so soft touch me agreed. I never learn. Plus it chucked it down when we were half way round!!!

£65 at Mr T's this afternoon meant my cheap day turned out to be rather expensive after all!!! I did treat myself to a liquorice scented candle too :o. They were reduced though and I've been eyeing them up for a few weeks. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

It's MiL's birthday on Wed too. Must get a present sorted Xx

    Liquorice scented candle? ;)

I am regifting some things for Xmas, from my loft, to MIL and my mum..I hope they didn't give them to me..I don't think so anyway:rotfl:

Sorry to hear you've been sad. As other posters have said, not necessarily any rhyme or reason to it. It happens, you have a lot on your plate and you are the backbone and complete rock to your family. So an off day is completely in order.

Good to hear youre getting out and about and enjoying your EH membership :T

It's packaged as a Halloween Candle with spiders on! I love liquorice and the smell wafting about now that it's lit is fab! Might even get MiL one as part of her gift!

I think we are all guilty of regifting but hopefully not to the people that have given us the item in the first place! We recently did a fundraising raffle at fat class for a local hospice and we were donating unwanted, unopened gifts as prizes. The consultant was given a gift set by one of her friends for the raffle because she didn't like the stuff. Shame the consultant had given her it for her birthday!!!

Thanks for that. DH said something similar last night and it was nice to be appreciated. He also said I only have one flaw and that's my self criticism/lack of self worth. I think he has missed quite a few :rotfl:.

  • Sorry you didn't have s great time at the christening, it's awful when memories resurface and they set you off. Has happened many times to me too xxx

    Liquorice candle-yukky lol:rotfl: I hate liquorice though!

As for re gifting, my mother gave my aunt a gift set one year for Christmas, she got it back the year after! My mum was so upset about it and thinking about it it was pretty thoughtless of my aunt! The first rule is never to gift it back to the person you got it from! !

Just caught up - my theory with the lack of weight loss is the hormones. I am always heavier around the time of my period, so if your body thinks it is on the cusp of a period all the time, it may be making you heavier. As a life long dieter I find that after a few weeks of sts you tend to get a good loss all in one week. It'll balance itself out.

I can see why you were thrown by the Father conducting the Christening, it must've been a shock. The Priest who conducted my Grandparents and one of my Uncle's funerals turned up on a weight loss programme with Anna Richardson once! I was astonished.
