  • Imagine how much a pooh weighs!
    Trying to shift that debt!
  • I always wear the same clothes, hardly eat anything on weigh in day, and go to the loo before getting on the scales :o

Haven't been online much the last 2 days but all has been well. Yesterday morning I spent almost 2 hours gutting DS1's room and created 2 big bags of rubbish for the tip and several more for the loft. DH put up our new light (which was bought for us as a present the christmas before last because we've been meaning to decorate THAT long ) and painted the door to our bedroom at the same time. Our room is now painted apart from the two window frames, but high hopes of a new carpet, blinds and furniture are on hold at the moment as we spent what little we had saved up on holiday. After the trip to the tip we then called it quits and sat out in the garden for the afternoon before we collected the boys from school/playgroup and then I went to work (which was busy and tiring).

Today has also been lovely and sunny. We again got our jobs out of the way and then went off in the car. It's DH's birthday next week and he is hoping to get enough money from various relatives to get his tattoo finished () and wanted to see a specific studio in Jarrow that has been recommended to him. This involved a two way trip on a toll road at £1.60 each way  for the tattooist to recommend 3 hours of work at £60 per hour :eek::eek: but he'd 'do a deal for £150 for the three hours'. Still :eek::eek:! DH originally got a tattoo done in about 2002 and then extended it down his arm in about 2007. About 2009 a friend of his bought a tattoo gun and DH said he could add some more to his sleeve (). This is very rough and needs 'fixed'. DH has been wanting to do this for years and I do understand why, but it seems just tidying is not an option and the whole thing needs reworked. He won't get that kind of money for his birthday. I've suggested he might want new blinds for our room instead :rotfl:. In all seriousness though that's what I'd do, whether that's the right thing to spend your birthday money on or not is another matter.

Anyway, on our way back home we diverted to the coast and had a stroll along in the sunshine. It was nice to be just the 2 of us but I felt bad that the boys missed out. Still I'm sure they enjoyed school :p.

I think the tattoo is an extravagance that could be put off until times are better, however, I know what men are like when they get a bee in their bonnet and they usually end up getting their own way. My OH is just the same (although he doesn't have any tattoos). Sounds like you got quite a lot done today and still managed to fit in some chill time - my kind of ideal day! Have a good weekend!

  • Thanks SA, my thoughts exactly re the tattoo. We've done quite a bit over last few days but could have done more. There is only so much decorating you can do when the sun is shining though! We seem to have been on with the bedroom for weeks because we started it before we went away. Quite used to the bed being in the middle of the room now :rotfl:

  • Where has the lovely sun gone?! I was getting used to that!

Lovely chilled out day yesterday. Met my Grandma, Mum and MIL at a different coffee shop and sat outside so the kids could play on the climbing frame/slide combo while we enjoyed the sun. Late afternoon we spent in the garden and repotted the sunflower that DS2 planted in a plastic coffee cup at playgroup and it has sprouted really well :D. Our next but one neighbour knocked on the gate and offered us some tomato plants too :T Last night was spent parked infront of the tv :o.

Today we are going to a 'party in the park'. DH's best friend's daughter and her band (follow that if you can!!) are playing and there will be pony rides and stalls etc. Would have been better in the sunshine but hey ho!

Last debt payment of the month is paid tomorrow so I will be able to update totals. Don't think we've made much headway this month though :(.

Sun has gone where I am too (East Midlands) - very upset about this! Quite cold now! Don't worry about not making much headway with the debt - any progress is better than none. Enjoy your party in the park today!

  • The sun got out yesterday for me but its not going to today it seems. Try to put DH off his tattoo over the summer and give him a chance to save up as you would need to keep it covered up. :)

  • Hi SBO!

Yes, the sun got out for us yesterday too and we baked at the party in the park! T'was fab. Expensive though as lots of rides for the kids to go on . I'm hoping it's going to do the same again here today as I want to take the Beavers out for a walk round the village and have a play in the new park.

It's all gone quiet on the tattoo front. In some ways I appreciate how much he goes without these days compared to before and I hate saying no to him, however it's not saying no that got us into debt in the first place! I always say no to myself though! I don't know that I can use the 'saving up' thing as an excuse because we have to save for DS1's birthday in September and then Christmas followed by DS2's birthday in January, so he knows it will be next year now. My birthday is the day before DS1's so that just gets ignored now :rotfl: Last year I got a £1.99 phone cover (which is what I asked for). I suppose it's been a while since DH wanted anything else (remembers the bmx saga *sigh*).

    Hi Lucky, :hello:

Glad to hear you had a good day yesterday.. :)

Was wondering why DH's bike hadn't been mentioned recently - now the weather is better I do hope he and DS1 are getting out on their bikes; call it physio as it will definitely help with improving balance and forming those new neural pathways.. Not to mention great bonding exercise for your two bigger lads. ;)

No comment on tattoo, except not a priority.

 to the tattoo!! Would tend to agree with Sun Addict: it can wait til money isn't quite so tight!
There's a few things you're saving up for at the minute: birthdays and shhhhh... christmas

Sun has only just disappeared behind clouds now. That's the first time since last week sometime! Turned a bit pink over the weekend. Which will have faded by Wednesday :o I just do not tan at all :p
