plmbl, is it worth asking about a packed lunch at school, our school have a lovely packed lunch in a snazzy paper bag as an option you only get water as a drink but they always look more appealing than the dinners to me. lots of little packets, roll filled with childs choice, carrot and cucumber sticks, grapes/melon/piece of fruit and either sticky bun or canteen pudding that's being offered that day. Our teachers regularly order it. It counts as a free school meal so might be worth a call to the school office, It's widely available but not commonly known about.
Time, Tide and Diarrhoea wait for no man. ;)
  • Hi gollygosh, thanks for posting!

I shall enquire at the school about packed lunches through them thank you. The menu for the term says wraps are always available, but DS1 says they are usually tuna which he doesn't like. He is very picky so to be honest there isn't a lot he does like!!

Would they do cheese & salad wraps? If so that might be a possibility

  • He wouldn't even eat that Dragon :( He doesn't like 'leaves' or cheese unless it's on a burger or pizza . He likes ham, jam or chocolate spread and not much else by way of sandwiches. He really is a pain when it comes to food. For example, he loves roast beef, steak and burgers but won't entertain mince in any way because it's "different". He loves sausages but won't eat pork and god forbid I try to get him to eat something as outrageous as a noodle! If he could, he'd have a Christmas Dinner every day, whereas his little brother would chose curry and rice! He's WAY more adventurous Xx

Blimey! Hmm in that case if they could do ham sarnies each day that is easy and he eats lunch

  • The worst bit SBO is when something that was his favourite on Monday is the worst meal imagineable by Thursday . At least he is good with his fruit and veg I suppose.

He also drinks A LOT of juice. To the point where I'm concerned and thinking of taking him to the Doctor to get checked out :(.

  • Its a worry.

  • It's usually ham sarnies all round with us lot. Easier that way! Once in a while we'll 'treat' the girls and get a jar of nutella, but considering the speed in which it disappears we're reluctant to make it part of our weekly shop! Peanut butter is handy too. We would get the Irwins muffins now and again and the girls love them with just cheese in them. Again, very handy! ;)

:(:(:( about Boston. Heart breaking. I don't understand people's thinking at all :(

But on a positive note, I loved reading this story.... :)

    Hello B.Lucky, :hello:

Glad to hear you had a good time at the wedding. :) Very MSE too. :D

It's hard to persuade kids to eat sometimes, isn't it? But they rarely starve.

I'd be more worried about DS1 drinking a lot. If there is no juice available, does he drink the same amount of water?

He is at the age where Diabetes A often manifests, so if the answer to my question is "yes" then a visit to the GP is in order to [hopefully] rule that out.
