Has anyone had any success with Barclaycard PPI claims?

  • Hi,

just had two sucessful claims, in quite good time too. Unfortunately, hubby signed and sent off his 'offer' before reading the accompanying letter properly - they've only gone back as far as 2005, saying they don't keep records later than that, but would be happy to recalculate if he could provide statements to 'aid with their calculations'! As I have all the statements since the card was activated ( I know, I know, I'm a freak!) I could have easily provided this information for them! But it's too late know, he's signed, send off and spent it.

I however, read my letter, and will be sending the statements!

    Read your letters carefully!

whats a rework team ? sorry for being thick lol

Apparently its a department that looks at claims they've declined because the consumer has provided information. They don't have to call you, write to you or have any time limit to rework ....

In my case, it shouldn't have got declined because I provided statements, they just couldn't be bothered looking and insisted on reconfirming these from archives and they waited 5 months for this, re-requesting every time nothing came back. Eventually they saw sense and gave up, but still passed it further up the chain to make a decision (based on statements I had provided) which took 6 weeks.

    Phew !!

Send the statements ( copies ) in for your hubby and ask that they consider the PPI redress for these too, you can but try.

Finally, i'm getting something back but will have to wait for the offer letter.

It's taken the rework team 8 months and altogether 11 months.

:j:j Chuffed to bits for you :T:T about time too x.
  • Thanks Amersall - we'll give it a try!
  • I had rejection letter from Barclaycard which said 'I may consider this as their final decision' my response was to write back with a list of points they had not covered, copies of statements and that I did not consider their letter as a final response.

Followed this up with a phone call and now they are sending this to the Rework Team but same comment about 'no timelimit' for reponding. Monthly phone call to B/Card from now on.

So far had complaints upheld by HSBC, Yorkshire Bank,
Lloyds TSB and now Santander (around £20k) with two more complaints pending.

Such a big thank you to all on MSE - some of this is life changing for us all.
  • I also made a complaint to Barclaycard in regards to an online Egg Credit Card application in 2004. I didnt realise I had PPI on this credit account. I made a complaint back in April this year and finally recieved a reponse on Monday. They were pretty slow but they did send me a letter to confirm that they were processing my application. I also received replies quickly through my online account messager service with Barclays. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, I received a rejection letter from Barclays stating that I will not be refunded as it was an online application and I was required to 'positively confirm' that I wished to purchase this policy. They also stated that it wasn't mis-sold as I was provided with full terms and conditions of the policy.

I do not remember selecting this insurance as I would not normally have done this. Has anyone had a similar experience? I am wondering if this was pre-selected already and I had to opt out?

    Any help appreciated!

I have my complaint with the Ombudsman for 2 years now. Today they told me they still waiting to make a final decision. Funny other banks have paid up Barclays seem to be dragging their feet.
Anyone else had anything off them they take your money so quickly but to reluctant to pay anything back.
  • Just to add my experience.

I had my initial reclaim turned down by barclays then i went to the FOS. In total including the wait between the upheld decision it took a whole 2 years from start to finish.
The outcome was really worth waiting for, and it the last leg is was right until the 11th hour really, exactly the 8th week!!
because i had been married in between times i waited for the cheque to arrive before imforming them, ( i didn't want any further confusion while the decision was being made) actually, it only took them a couple of weeks to re-write the cheque which was good.
Unfortunately, you just have to sit and wait...
