I've just rang them again for an update it's now 11 weeks since they recieved my complaint, they said there's nothing more to tell me at this stage, they say they have all the imformation they need from egg and me, the same thing they told me 2 weeks ago when I rang, I really don't understand whats taking them so long if they have all the information they need, they just keep telling me they're snowed under...it's a joke.....

I'm in the same situation. They have all the info they need to uphold the claim but insist on trying to get archive info so they can decline it. It's so obvious ....

I'm due a response by the 5th May, i still have a Barclaycard with them, that was the Egg Account, so they have no excuse for not finding my details, and when the account was reactivated as Barclaycard, the PPI automatically carried on. So i've got my fingers crossed!

I've just rang barclaycard again for an update now week 13 since they recieved my complaint, the bloke on the phone said they have now requested more info for egg to check the compliancy with it being an online application at the time I took out the card in 2003 to see if the box for ppi was pre ticked the opt out rather than opt in method, last week they told me thye had eveything they needed from egg statents etc now there telling me theyve requested more info aarrrghhh... The bloke did say the questionare Id sent and statemnets frome gg had all been checked and there just now waiting for this last bit of info they need, he also said since they took over egg theyve been uninandated with ppi complaints, think I'll wait a little longer to see what happens...

Applied for ppi back from a barclaycard loan which was payed off in 2005 in November last year. Despite having the account number and the letter i received from them in 2005 which gave me the amount i needed to pay off, as I was paying it off early and which clearly stated that I was paying ppi, I received a letter at the end of december stating thay couldnt uphold my claim because I did not have the policy number?. I then checked my online statements and could actually go back 10 years and found a little more of the account number and phoned them with this information. I than received a letter from them saying they were sending away for information on 5/1/2012 and that is the last correspondence i have received. Phoned last week and they said the claim was still active but couldnt give me any other information. The lady just said if i havent heard by this week to ring back but probably just to get me off the phone. Is anyone else having similar problems and such long delays. Have had no problem with lloyds and mbna and both settled within the 8 week period.

I think it is a bit hit and miss, as I phoned Barclaycard to make a complaint on behalf of my Mum. It took 7 weeks from the phone call to her recieving a cheque for £600ish, although her account is still active and she was paying ppi. This was just recently as well.
  • Hi all,
During dealings with Barclaycard did anyone have their cards put on stop? Seems Barclaycard have frozen my card since they recieved my Questionaire.

I haven't called them yet as I only found out today but I'd like to be armed with as much knowledge as possible before I call them up.

Are you sure they haven't suspended your card because you asked for the terms and conditions of your account? This should really be removed from the advice article since it often results in such misunderstandings. If it was the T&C request, the Bank must believe you want to default on paying. Inform them otherwise and all should be okay.

I see, I'll give them a call tomorrow. I did ask for my T&C's but I actually managed to lay my hands on my original copy from 1997.

Funny though, I just paid my bill today.

    Thanks for the info.

Same experience from Barclaycard as well. Made my complain on end of December 2011. Got informed that they would decide by March 2012.
It is now more than a month after that date and they have not communicated with me at all.
Planning to call them this week in order to get an update but NOT happy at all with their attitude..
After 10 years being with them, If they do continue this behaviour then I a planning to cancel my credit card...

Frustrating but think it is because they are bogged down with the amount of claims. I have phoned a few times but not really given any information, just informed the claim is still active and they will eventually respond. My partner put in a ppi complaint with barclays in feb this year and had it upheld and money in the bank a couple of weeks ago, so think it may just be barclaycard that are struggling. Have had no correspondence from them since 5.1.12 saying they were sending away for information. Phoned the ombudsman for advice and they said they were more than willing to write to them but that it may cause a longer delay, so I have decided just to wait and see if something turns up. Good luck ....
