Work Programme Provider Pressure To Take Job

Can I just ask you one question: Would YOU take on a job if it wasn't quite suitable?
No, not many people would, but then most people aren't long-term unemployed people that are relying on other citizens money to live.
If you don't want to take jobs that you're offered that aren't perfect, fine, as you say we're not all machines that are programmed to work !!!!!! hours and have !!!!!! lives, but then you shouldn't be taken other peoples money...
You're welcome to remain unemployed forever, it's your choice, but please don't pass up jobs that you're offered just because they're not perfect. Why don't you at least try this job? Apply, give it a good shot, at the very worst it turns out that it sucks and you go back on JSA, which is exactly the situation you're in now, best case it's a reasonable job you don't hate as much as you thought, it improves your employability and you can move on to a better job.
Nobody (sane) will criticise you or begrudge you if you take a job, find out it really is bad and then move on, because nobody deserves to be unhappy, but intentionally sabotaging your chances of getting a job (that you can only guess isn't worth it) is very silly and disrespectful to those that pay your JSA.
give it a go, at least... or stop taking JSA, because you're not a job seeker, you're a jobs I like seeker.0 -
I wish people could understand this basic fact that the majority of unemployed people are not taking other peoples money.
They have worked and paid their taxes all their life, things like national insurance contributions etc. So in effect they have paid into the pot and are now taking what they are entitled to.
Its like insurance- nobody would be telling you that you were taking other peoples money if you got your house robbed and then made a claim against the insurance. Its the same thing.0 -

What you fail to understand is that tax/ NI is not a savings "pot" that you can take back from. Your analogy to insurance is pretty stupid - have you tried claiming on insurance when you no longer pay your premiums? :rotfl:0 -

I am unemployed and i have paid into the system for years, but there is no pot as the government don't save the money into some scheme. The tax and ni have gone towards the benefits of those unemployed at the time i was working. I am entitled to it as the government says i am, so i do exactly what i receive the JSA i do actually job seek.0 -
A bit like you can get NHS treatment in HOSPITAL and NHS prescriptsions if you have NEVER paid Tax or NI. You do not get turned away at hospital or the doctors if you have never paid NI or Tax, do you?mynameistallulah wrote: »What you fail to understand is that tax/ NI is not a savings "pot" that you can take back from. Or you can get housing benefit if you have NEVER paid NI or TAX
Or you can get child allowance if you have NEVER paid NI or TAX
Or you can get JSA if you have NEVER paid NI or TAX (or only had a few jobs that lasted a short time)
These are the people you want to have a jab at not people who have worked and paid for the likes of these above0 -

I think they are scummers as well - if you claim JSA, you must take work when it is offered, irrespective of your background.0 -
wow yeah thats great but what if you can't get a job? ANY job??? I have applied for shop work and not got past the applcation stage where I have 24+ years exp in accounts!!mynameistallulah wrote: »I think they are scummers as well - if you claim JSA, you must take work when it is offered, irrespective of your background.0 -

(assuming you meant "can't" not "can" in the first line):
Nobody should have a problem with you taking Job Seekers Allowance, because you're Job Seeking. I (as a tax payer) have no problem with someone being on JSA for 20 years if they're making every effort to get a job, I'm sure everyone else feels the same.
If you were offered a shop job but you only wanted a job working in an office and you refused the shop job because it wasn't what you "wanted" then you'd be a problem, because Job Seekers Allowance is to help you get back into work, not fulfil your dream career desires.0 -
yes I meant 'can't' as typed it too fast(assuming you meant "can't" not "can" in the first line):

But if you are never offered a shop job with accounts experience how are you meant to get a job?
It's SO easy to get a job, that's all I hear and it's not.
Even my friends say 'apply for anything' which I am and can't get one interview for a job I wouldn't apply for if I was working!0 -

I do empathise with you I have had loads of interviews recently but in the end i always hear nothing after endless chasing for an answer or hear back saying i was a close second to the person they employed. I'm afraid there is a stigma attached to being unemployed whether it long term or short term. Just keep plugging away i'm sure you'll get something soon.0
