Work Programme Provider Pressure To Take Job

OP can refuse the job if they wish.
DWP can stop paying them to sit at home if they wish.
Seems fair to both sides.0 -
Hey you, shut it! You obviously don't know ANYTHING at all about my plight - or don't want to. You are obviously one of these misguided people who class all unemployed people the same, but you must understand that each case is different. There are moaning scoungers, and there are people who GENUINELY want work. I fall into the latter category.
Look, mate, I don't need to go on again about how bad my situation is in regard to trying to find a job in this jobless area. Suffice to say that far from being a "lazy git", as you so pathetically and offensively put it, I am ANYTHING BUT. I will have you know that I am writing after jobs DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY. It's not my fault that these ignorant employers never reply to job applications. It is THEM you should be hurling your abuse at, not me. I honestly cannot believe what I read. You are DEFINITELY living in cloud cuckoo land. Or maybe you just can't stand genuinely unemployed people expressing their despair at the current rubbishy state of the economy.
Nobody has tried for work as much as I have, so before you start spouting off shallow, objectionable rubbish about being "lazy" etc., wake up to reality. I repeat, wake up to REALITY.paddedjohn wrote: »get off your ar#e you lazy git and get working, by the sound of it you have had long enough trying to find the perfect job so now its time to take whatever you can. Whats your problem? Are you scared of missing Jezza?0 -
Well said, Emmzi. You're right - this character obviously has NO understanding whatsoever about the true plight of the jobless, and is bound by preconceived, stereotypical views which may have stemmed from certain characters he has watched on, perhaps, the Jeremy Kyle
Show.harsh, paddedjohn. OP has been applyimg for lots of stuff. I'm not sure your stereotypical Daily Mail view is helpful.
actually, I know it isn't.0 -
Truegho, your WP advisor sounds a nightmare! People are right, though, he or she can sanction you - in fact, they can get a bonus for doing it. If I were you, I would go to the interview and give some really inappropriate answers to the questions. Why not let slip that you are recently out of jail, suffer long term mental health problems or something like that? I ain't jokin! Works every time for me.I didn't ask to be born!0

Sorry but "genuinely wants to work at what I want to work at" and "genuinely wants to work" are two different things. Your jobseekers agreement is based on taking any available job, not any available job you want. That is the reality of being long term unemployed.0 -

If you really were as dedicated to finding a job as you say you are you would be at that interview like a shot instead of making excuses about why you shouldn't have to, as you say, you live in a jobless area, so travel a little further.
As far as knowing anything about your plight well I can only go on what you put in your post and you seem to be trying to justify turning down the chance of work.
Like I always say, there are people who want to work and there are people who don't. If as you say you are in the former category then why not at least go for the interview, you may not get the job but it will help you brush up on your interview skills.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
Lots of people dont want and cant cope with working nights,I've done it myself and it made me feel sick and disorientated. I gave my notice and the jobcentre still paid me although this was a few years ago.
If you really dont think its for you, then you can not shine at the interview. I wouldnt work nights ever again
If your properly looking for something then Im sure you will get something appropriate for you. Its o.k people saying you have to do anything etc, would they no they wouldnt. Theres always ways round things and you know what to do. Its not unreasonable to want something during the day. You've probably paid a lot of tax and NI throughout your life, so let the state pay for you whilst you find something more suitable.0 -
Well said, dandielionclock30. Would THEY do it? I doubt it. It's all very well, though, for them to shout down genuinely unemployed people. They should remember we are HUMAN BEINGS, NOT subservient machines.dandelionclock30 wrote: »Lots of people dont want and cant cope with working nights,I've done it myself and it made me feel sick and disorientated. Did you put on your original form that you would be available to work nights, I have a feeling on mine I had restrictions about the number of hours (evenings, weekends etc) and also whether it was possible to get there on public transport. I am pretty certain I said somewhere along the line I wouldn't do night shifts.
I think from the OP's point of view not taking a night job that's miles away is reasonable, it just depends with the WP see it that way, so it might be a case of being useless at the interview. Also if you're doing a night job you might well be too tired during the day to look for the job you really want to take.0 -
Hi. Thanks for your reply. Yes, I did state in my JSA Agreement that I did not want night work, but could work up to 6.30 pm.Did you put on your original form that you would be available to work nights, I have a feeling on mine I had restrictions about the number of hours (evenings, weekends etc) and also whether it was possible to get there on public transport.
