Tout_or_Businesswoman_? wrote:Hi carl310166,
Do you mean that you think it's sad that people were prepared to spend so much money on Ebay buying the Wii's or that it's sad that others were buying them specifically to sell ( Er, yes... I bought a few)
I meant it was sad that people would spend way over the odds for something, when, if they waited, they could get it at normal price. I remember one poster who managed to get one for her son a WII over xmas, she went on to say that all his mates come around and he was really popular (or words to that effect) said it all really.
If i could be bothered to find something to sell for a huge markup, i would do it as well, if people are dull enough to pay it..........Sponsored by Tesco Clubcard Points !!0 -

I think you are right to some extent, but also, in my experience, some people just have money to burn and it's no big deal splashing out whatever the cost. If they or their kids want something and they can afford it, they get it at any cost, no need for them to wait around.
I agree though, generally it's a sad, sad world.....0 -
As i said in another post....
everyone in the world is a tout at one stage.
Businesses buy to resell at a profit
People buy to resell at a profit
If your not happy with it you would die!!!!!!!
go into sainsburys tommorow head to customer services with your shopping and advice them you are only willing to pay what it cost sainsburys to buy it in......... """"im only paying face value""""
get the drift

Yep, everything you say is correct. I just can't see why everyone who knocks ticket touts can't see it too0 -

Actually what happens is the tout looks down the list of bids until he or she finds a realistic bid and offers it to that person as a seocnd chance offer, so they could sell them probably. i Can see how this is unfair, but the solution is that people get a grip and don't spend £400 on a ticket worth £45, yes they're desperate but in the long run people must realise that if no-one paid over the odds the touts would go out of business. A recent example in my life was when a friend and I bought tickets for a football match, but he already had tickets for a gig that night, no friends wantd them so he put them on ebay and they sold for £100 more than their face value, he didn't start them at that price but some idiot was willing to pay it, who's to blame? i obviously realise there's a difference in that situation and that of a full time tout but it's the same people buying.Bought, not Brought0 -
Ive already voiced my opinion here.
To those who say "Its just like selling anything else", no, it isnt.
To those who say "They are doing nothing wrong", read the T&C.
To those who say "It'll always happen", no it wont. Look at the Olympics and Glastonbury.
I cant voice my true feelings, well not if I dont want to get banned."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0 -
Please sign this petition against the price of tickets.

If you're not fast you're last! I kid, I kid but someone did make an interesting point on another thread, possibly the one you linked to, the tickets end up in th ehands of genuine fans who end up paying over the odds, but what ruins the enjoyment for genuine fans just as much is when people buy tickets for various nights (i still remember being at school when take that were famous first time around and they would be playing 3 nights at the same venue and there'd be girls at school going every night)
back to the previous post, it is just like selling anything else, the second point about the T + C's, if you mean on the ticket then that's an issue between the vendor and the seller. the It will alwyas happen part, it's not practical for people to send off photo and details(+admin fee i might add) before every event, the reason it works for Glastonbury is because of the time between the event and this procedure and the cost of doing it is very small compared to the price of tickets but if you look on ebay there are gigs where the tickets have a face value of £8-12 and they still sell for £50-80 this seems to be the case with a lot of relatively well known American rock and emo bands so paying £5 in charges to get your photo printed on the ticket is non-sensiacal, and if you agree with that then where do we draw th eline? only pout these procedures in place for Take That? and other bands(and i use the term loosely) who cost a little more or who will be more likely to have a higher demand? that'll hardly be fair or people who want tickets to the aforementoned cheaper gigs and still end up paying £80 which i might add would mean they were paying more than to go and see Take that For example because one gig would have this protection system and the other doesn't?Bought, not Brought0 -

No, its nothing like it, unless you have a remarkable skill of being able to make 1,000% on anything you buy. Firstly, theres an emotional attachment. Touts know that people will pay a fortune to see their bands. Secondly, theres a time factor. Most people have to work, but because the touts hoover up all the tickets, they have no chance of getting them when they get home. If the touts didnt deprive people of the chance of getting their tickets, they might still be able to get them from the authorised outlet. In fact I cant see any similarity between event tickets and normal goods. Everything is different, and if you dont think it is, go and buy something from the shop for £45 and sell it again for £500. Then I might believe you.Bamber19 wrote:the second point about the T + C's, if you mean on the ticket then that's an issue between the vendor and the seller.
Yes, the "Must not be resold" condition. I realise that its only a civil matter, but Im sick of touts saying "Oh, we're doing nothing wrong." Yes, you are.Bamber19 wrote:the It will alwyas happen part
It wont. Gladstonbury are taking a lead because they have a better opportunity to do so. Others will follow, hopefull with the assistance of a law to stamp out scalping.Bamber19 wrote:it's not practical for people to send off photo and details(+admin fee i might add) before every event, the reason it works for Glastonbury is because of the time between the event and this procedure and the cost of doing it is very small compared to the price of tickets but if you look on ebay there are gigs where the tickets have a face value of £8-12 and they still sell for £50-80 this seems to be the case with a lot of relatively well known American rock and emo bands so paying £5 in charges to get your photo printed on the ticket is non-sensiacal, and if you agree with that then where do we draw th eline? only pout these procedures in place for Take That? and other bands(and i use the term loosely) who cost a little more or who will be more likely to have a higher demand? that'll hardly be fair or people who want tickets to the aforementoned cheaper gigs and still end up paying £80 which i might add would mean they were paying more than to go and see Take that For example because one gig would have this protection system and the other doesn't?
A system will be implimented, and once it is, it wont cost a considerable amount more. Theres enormous pressure from both bands and tour organisers to do it, and hopefully it will happen soon so we can stamp out these vultures. All that needs to happen is an ID matching system and for the law to stop the selling of tickets on Ebay. If you cant go, you send the ticket back for a full refund. The new Arsenal stadium is already using something similar I believe, so the foundation has been laid."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0
