Am totally with you Lacla. My friend was unable to get tickets today, yet at 9.20am there were 116 listings on ebay. Tickets should have an id system where the person who bought them has to show photo id at the event to get in.

And if memory serves me right, Kylie forced eBay to withdraw ALL tickets being touted on their site for her comeback British tour which sold out within 1 hour.

She may have tried to, but there were plenty of tickets available on ebay. I picked some up for well less than face value.

If previous ebay experience is anything to go by, you'll be able to get Take That tickets on ebay for peanuts by December.

This could be true actually. On the recent Morrissey tour there were so many tickets snapped up by touts that they were practically giving them away in the weeks leading up to the gigs. I got a £35 face value ticket for a fiver on ebay.

That said, obviously more people will be interested in Take That.

Personally I'd like to see ebay stop selling concert tickets, full stop.

This is now upto £12,100.00 Absolutely ridiculous in my opinion NO band is worth that.
You couldn't pay me £12,100.00 to go and watch a boring and bland group(not band - they don't play musical instruments) like Take That!:p

Its a pretty normally, yet annoying occurance now. I recall back in 2001 I was lucky enough to get tickets to a press, celbrities and comp winners only gig in London by The Darkness. they were appearing on ebay for thousands because it was so limited. Even on the eveining of the gig before I went in I was offered £1500 for my ticket. I wouldnt have parted with it for a million that night!

But yes, its annoying that touts get the tickets, supply and demand I guess :(

The only way to stop the touts is not to buy tickets from them. If that sounds overly simple it's because it is :)
    Can I help?
  • Hi there :)

I'm a full-time seller of tickets on eBay and am reading these discussions with great interest. I wanted to add my comments in a friendly manner.

I sold a few tickets a couple of years back and made a few pounds, since then I've purchased as many tickets as I can legitimately and sell them on, admittedly with the hope of making a profit, but with the usual business risk of making a loss.

Like many, I'm there and ready before the onsale time, poised with the very simple tools of my quick fingers and one or two credit cards. Through practice I'm quick and very often get the tickets I'm after, but sometimes fail too.

I now have a full time job, buying and selling these tickets. I work from 8.00am until 10.00pm 7 days a week regularly. I provide a highly professional and personal service with the aid of my webdesign and graphics background, rewarding me with a very healthy profit, LESS TAX. Yes, I go buy the rules.

There are those that despise what I do, I hear from about half a dozen of these out of the 1000+ transactions I complete each year. The 99%+ of all other buyers show their appreciation through their feedback and personal emails:

***GREAT E-BAYER !!! def recommended and will def use again!! CANNOT FAULT!!***

*F*A*B*U*L*O*U*S*. What more can I say. Definitely will use again. 5* service

Awesome. Defo hope to use again

    Great tickets, great service, Thanks

Some of the emails I've received from buyers have really moved me. These people are so grateful for the chance to purchase tickets, being unable to do so themselves do to work/family commitments, not knowing about any gig in the first place or just not quick enough when the tickets are released.

I buy tickets and offer them to others. I make profits and losses. I win some I lose some. I start my listings at 99p and let buyers decide what the final cost will be. If they choose and are able to pay ridiculous amounts then that's fine by me and obviously fine by them. I'm happy, they're happy.

I actually consider myself to be a very successful, conscious free, businesswoman ! :)
  • And.... Whilst the opportunity is there and people want to buy, I shall sell. It's not going to last forever due to the government being under so much presure from the 'disgruntled fans'. I'm preparing myself for that day by purchasing and selling other items, goods mainly, that I've been first in the rush to buy and then sold on for profit. Others have missed out on the bargain, although a risk is involved, hopefully I'll reap in the profit. I fail to see the difference really between this and selling tickets ?!
  • Sorry, me again :D

I just wanted to add that I too have my favourite bands and go to the occassional gig. I wanted Take That tickets myself, so I could go to the gig myself. I was there before 9.00am, but despite my experience and 'skill' I failed to get tickets. Like others though, I sat 'refreshing for 8 hours before I finally manged to bag the tickets that I wanted... oh and a couple of spares. These I shall sell to pay for the 2 tickets that I want to keep.

Despite my business success, almost every penny is spent on the cost of being a lone parent with kids ( I don't claim any benefits and live very modestly ). If I can make money to afford an occassional night out, something that is very rare, then again I shall sell tickets and other goods. If I sat at home not being an 'entrepreneur' and claiming every benefit from the state I could, I'd be slated for that too !
