Spill the beans...on which firms ignore your 'no cold callers sign'

If only nobody ever did, it would no longer happen.
Similarly, if everybody treated junk mail as 'direct to recycling' and just hung up on cold callers, these practices would stop as well.
We can but dream.
Unfortunately, as a society, we are making rods for our own backs.
So true, At the end of each working week, there would be a conference call between all the offices. From each office around the UK, there would be a team of around 40 reps. As a whole, the company were signing up around 1000-2000 people per week in different areas. With that many people condoning door to door sales, it is a massive money making incentive for those that take the 70% chunk of the commission, while the reps get 20% and the other 10% is put into a 'bond' for them to help them when they make it to the top. Sad state of affairs really!0 -

It's usually a company collecting on behalf of charity who then make a small donation when they sell the clothes for scrap.
I understand there's alot of money for traders who buy clothes since all the rubbish ones can be sold for scrap at £0.60 per kilogram and every now and then someone will throw out a gem which often gets sold on ebay.
If you want to give your clothes to charity, give them directly to the charity in question. Otherwise you're still lining someone else's pockets!
If so then- sorry for derail

One thing I find interesting here is there seems to be a direct comparison between the "no cold caller" sign and trying to avoid cold callers on the phone with the TPS service... and what really annoys me about TPS is that apparently it doesn't apply to market research.
As with doorstep callers somebody has clearly missed the point. I don't want ANY uninvited callers otherwise I wouldn't have put the sign up in the first place!
As for double glazing salesmen, I too live in a relatively new house, ironically I've twice had to ask the Anglian Windows rep why he didn't even recognise his own product just half a metre from where he was standing!!!0 -
When I first moved to this house, there were these thick, heavy lace curtains up at the windows. Have them down, I thought. Lovely big windows, you need to see the sky! Freecycled them, and now I can understand why the previous owner had them up... cold callers will knock on the door and then usually turn around, look right in the window and then wave to me.
Right, I've already ignored your knock (as there's no delivery van outside [there is only one place to park and I can see it clearly] and you're not the postman, either) so I'll obviously come rushing to welcome you in so you can tell me how you can improve my way of life with new windows, doors, and/or a deity to worship? :rotfl:
*searching freecycle for my curtains back*:hello:

You know what you have to do in future now then, When the door goes and they are expecting to see you at the window, just stand their laughing manically with a knife covered in Strawberry jam whilst licking it off and waving. :rotfl:0 -

Talk talk ignored my sign. I pointed it out and the salesman wasn't in the slightest bit bothered about my protestations and still tried to engage me in his speil. Moreover, it was after 9pm that they called!0

It appears evident from this thread, that door to door callers insist on knocking on a door with a "no cold callers" sign.
It's obvious that the "it doesn't apply to me" is a lame excuse.
The "no cold callers" sign is evidence that the occupant is blatantly not interested, therefore, there is no sale/religious conversion/signatures or whatever to be had, so why do they knock, when they know it's just a waste of their time as well as the householders?0 -
Just had an AVON catalogue through the door the other week. Not interested but what really pees me off is that as requested, I still i left the catalogue out on the door step to be collected anyway and it still was there after several days so it went into the recycling box!0

I've not had any calls or catalogues whatsoever since using the latest sign with the legal threat on it, I know that Kleeneze have been around having seen one of their catalogues on a neighbour's doorstep last week.0
