Are you sure it's not some in-joke that you are not aware of? Maybe someone is having a laugh along the way?

Please update when you find out, I would love to know!
  • Perhaps they have been trying to get Groom's dad to shave his beard off for years and this is only way they can make him do it? Seems very weird to me!

Unless, someone at the wedding is scared of beards - beard phobic?

It depends on who the man is and how well kept it is.... obviously a good looking bloke with a beard that could hide a birds nest in wouldnt appeal to me.

Maybe they are trying to do away with the 'designer stubble'. A fancy name for a man who is too lazy to shave.

I'd have to ask why personally. Unless it's some cultural thing (which it doesn't seem to be) it's an absolutely outrageous request.

I agree. And, in your OH's shoes, I'd ignore the request.

What can they really do when facially hirsute people turn up on the day?

    A very OTT request.

Well my husband wouldn't go. Perhaps that's the hidden agenda, reduce the guest list.
I wouldn't be sending a wedding gift either.
