because by saying this on here you lot will pile in to it and make me a tidy profit

Any particular reason beyond it is at a low Malcnascar? Can't see much but the gold price helping it at the moment. I believe my Australian Natural Resources Fund were heavy on Newmont but seemed to have dumped it.

I'm looking to build 10 or so cheap mining stocks as a punt but haven't got beyond Avocet yet. I'll nibble at Talvivaari soon but beyond that nothing I really fancy. Hopefully things will get more exciting after April when I return from hols :)

...POG on the other hand does 750k ounces with only 752m mcap plus they mine iron ore on top, so I guess I have to sell ABG if anything.

I think Im missing out the debt in the background, POG shot up now as they receive cash injection for a sale and have debts but ABG might be free and clear, not sure
I hold POG..... but the debt is what is constraining the SP, amongst the fact that there is the usual RF consideration. Lot of shareholders were disappointed the soon to be acquired cash was not going to be used to pay down the debt.

My greed keeps pulling me back to AMC (as if I don't have enough RF concerns).

Been buying F&C Private Equity Trust for the past few months. At an average discount of 27% on NAV felt there was some value in the stock.

Rio Tinto. Although it was the last share I purchase on the same day I picked up Vodafone and William Morrison.

Hope you got Rio on Thursday mornings dip following the massive write downs.
I was busy so missed out, so have been waiting for it to fall again.
    But it hasn't :o
Very dependant on Pilbara ore which they were struggling to give away a few years ago. Its Volatile, but as good a bet as any I think.

I hold Morrison (12% down but more than made up for by Sainsbury & Tesco) So on that basis I think Morrison looks cheap.

Less sure about Vodaphone. They seem to be struggling with increasing competition and huge licensing costs. I think past level of dividends are unsustainable without a miracle.

What do you reckon of AAZ latest report. I thought 50k ounces not that great but then when the company is only 50m big, that is very cheap? especially if they can expand without great costs

The 50k oz was in line with the adjusted forecast of 49-51k oz. The last winter was the reason for such a poor Q1 in 2012 but the weather has been better so far this year.
The agitation plant should be commissioned around March (my guesstimate based on a face to face chat with the CFO) and that will mean lower costs, higher recoveries and recovery not relying on weather. It is ahead of end of H1 schedule and under budget.
The drilling of 30km should be nearly done by now and the resultant upgrade could see a doubling of resource.
There have been unconfirmed reports of a main market listing and dividends at the end of this year.
I expect AAZ to revisit its highs as the AL plant nears coming online and if the upgrade is as good as hoped in July then 80p is possible.

Well, the last share I bought is still GOOD. There were no other companies listing since July that interests me particularly. :( I am however pleased with GOOD's performance since then though slightly concerned about just how much debts GOOD going to take on to keep their target of developing 110 MW by 2016. Out of my four companies, it is my best performer and paying dividends which would be reinvested once I fall to a certain price.

Quality company, good management, good dividend record, gold prices overdone and trading at low end of its range, good proven reserves and good probable reserves.

I am not an advisor but believe the fall in share price has been overdone. Looking to hold for the longterm for my wifes future income

I'm tempted but their performance has never been dynamic. The management change last year I think doesn't indicate any dynamic change. But as you say they look cheap at the moment and the gold price has potential.

I may include them as a safety net in my SIPP as opposed to my more adventurous share ISA. The divs look poor to me but a 30% gain must be possible on SP and the downside looks very limited. But if I get 30% I will be out :)

Tx for drawing my attention back to them. Sadly I don't have time to keep up with everything I would like
