F&C go ex this wed. Interesting little funds they run, not for me but all those little hidden gems could be very profitable I imagine. They must exercise alot of skill to ascertain value on all those enterprisesLess sure about Vodaphone. They seem to be struggling with increasing competition and huge licensing costs. I think past level of dividends are unsustainable without a miracle.
They got gazillions in cash coming from Verizon, it can be a bit lumpy paying out divs to them though. Biggest concern is India ?
BHP > RIO
reports WedThe drilling of 30km should be nearly done by now and the resultant upgrade could see a doubling of resource.
There have been unconfirmed reports of a main market listing and dividends at the end of this year.
Sounds good and not really factored in, still. Should stay above 40 if bullishJegersmart wrote: »ENRC actually, at 339p. One for the medium term possibly.
I got them in Dec, stupidly cheap without a good reason arriving soon they must rise otherwise.
Actually I already had them because KAZ own a quarter and KAZ in turn are owned 25% by the government.
KAZ seems to own just about everything though mostly copper, also too cheap but ex USSR I guess it figures.
Same guy running the country for decades but no one cares apparently except fund managers who would surely buy more if it was a 'real' private companyMiner Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation was the biggest blue-chip riser with a gain of 11.4 to 334p.
Worries over ENRC’s debt levels had weighed on the shares at the end of last year, after the group announced it was purchasing the remainder of its Congolese joint venture for $550m (£342.4m).
However, analysts at Credit Suisse today gave a lift to the stock by arguing that ENRC’s “acquisition run” was now over and the company could even make small disposals. That prompted them to raise their recommendation to “outperform” from “neutral”. The shares are now up 17.6pc since the start of the year, a gain that one trader attributed to takeover speculation, talk that others in the market had not heard.0 -

Agreed on Vodafone - HUGE amounts of cash and Verizon finally paying HUGE dividends for them.
As above aswell Tax argument with Indian authorities posts a shadow, but I do not think that will be as bad as it sounds.
I think voda's biggest problem is where is the growth going to come from?0 -
Which is a better ftse investment out of Vod/Shell/BP (any more suggestions)?
I think i am going to top up sxx and maybe Shell (i already hold Vod so could add to that..?)0 -
Just buy the FTSE, those 3 plus hsbc are basically where half of your money goes. None of them are bad
Check out these figures, heck of a lot of gearVerizon sold 9.8 million smartphones in the December quarter, including 6.2 million iPhone units, which were modestly above the firm's 5.6 million iPhone estimate.

Was looking at Wood group today0 -
Just topped up on Avocet - is that a glint of gold there??
And am adding Vod possibly tomorrow to BP, Severn Trent and Glaxo in my divi portfolio. I reckon Vodafone growth will come from EM and they have had time to understand Spain and friends (even poor unemployed use phones - cheap phones but phones).
Still have £2000 for a couple of penny share mines if anyone has any new ones in mind? :beer:I believe past performance is a good guide to future performance :beer:0 -

Is their a website that shows company's ex-div dates?0 -
Just jumped in on VOD
In general there seems lots of mixed news at the mo. Europe through the worst! Portugal reentering bond market. China hard landing or not? Africa the new Asia. Roaring inflation. Devaluation of pound. US cliff, ..................
And "moving bonds to divis a non brainer". Well if that is true I guess upward pressure on big divi players.
Overall I'm bullish for the coming year --- I think
Keep the suggestions coming guys and gals. Still got some cash :beer:I believe past performance is a good guide to future performance :beer:0 -
