This isn't necessarily true. The OP said the Father lived in his house for a while etc. In the thread you have posted the link too I could see no mention of children, just OH.

Yeah but he is asking about taking a job in London, with a huge commute, more money - who does that sound like? Oh yeah, the Father ;)

I don't usually go digging through posts but I did wonder why a "friend" would get so worked up about maintenance. Why didn't you just say from the start that YOU are the father?

You're way off the mark! My friend has accept a job, as a result of him taking the job an opportunity has opened up for me to work for the same company. Don't jump to conclusions, I'm not the father. I don't have children, nor am I married.

I wouldn't worry, it sounds like you have been hung drawn and quartered already :p

I am in Leicester too BTW. Looking for a new job meself, but it is slim picking out there.
I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
Mortgage is my only debt - Original mortgage - January 2008 = £88,400, March 2014 = £47,000 Chipping away slowly! Now saving to move.

Okay, if that is the case and I am wrong then I apologise but as a friend you are getting yourself really worked up over someone else's situation :o

To be honest, her financial and personal circumstances are nothing to do with you really - you don't know everything your friend says is fact. For example, how do you know she is not looking for a job? £150 a month for full-time nursery/pre-school is not a lot of money when compared to what I and others have paid. Is this for a wrap-around care to save lots of long in-between travel?

Tell me about it, I work in a very specialised area too, there are literally no other companies in Leicester that do what I do.

The £150 is the balance after a child care voucher my friend gets through work.

Of course I only have his version of events to go on, but he has no reason to lie.

What does your friend want? Does he want to pay the CSA rate? Does he want to carry on the way things are but not pay the extra money the Mother is asking for? All he has to say is no, it can't be done. The Mother won't be soft, she will know the going CSA rate but she may be under the impression that your friend earns more than he does so thinks it could be higher?

It does sound like he is paying a lot/over the odds if what you are saying is correct but it's up to your friend how he wants to tackle it and what he wants the end result to be.
  • At the risk of repeating myself. The mother wants the dad to cover the shortfall in her unearned income because of the changes in the benefit system. She is shooting herself in the foot by going to the CSA.

The mother is living in accommodation that she cannot afford.
The mother sends the child to nursery every day which the father pays for despite the fact she is at home all day 'unemployed'.

    A) Does he pay the nursery directly?
    B) Does he pay the extra nursery money to the mother and have proof that that is where the money is going?

I get the feeling that the PWC sees the father as a cash cow.
It is one thing to say you want to be a SAHM and look after your child it is another to choose to stay at home and send you child to nursery every day.

IMO the mother is a gold digger.
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!
