How often do you wash your dressing gown?

Hardly ever, they don't really get dirty.
I've got 2 - a towelling one I stick on after my shower every day to keep me warm while I dry off with other towels, so it still doesn't really get grubby as I'm not really drying myself on it, and it's always hung up again immediately so isn't sitting round damp. I usually bung it in every couple of months.
Then I've got another one I use when I get up for about 15 -20 minutes a day. Again, it doesn't really get dirty. I got this one for Christmas and I've washed it once so far (grr, was all nice and soft and fluffy/fleecy but now just not the same).
Unless you are sitting around in them for hours, or spill something on them, or are generally a grubby person when you wear them, I can't see why you'd need to keep washing them every week.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -
People, people! Anything which is worn next to the skin needs to be washed regularly because it absorbs dead skin cells. Little hairy beasties live in that muck. You wouldn't have a shower or bath and put on a dirty pair of knickers so why do it with your dressing gown?
Once a week please but that can be stretched.0 -

Lets see. I wear my underpants for a day, say 17 hours. I change them every day. I wear my dressing gown for 20 minutes a day max. So that is 51 days to achieve the same level of 'wornness'. 51 days = 7 weeks and 2 days.:p
That ties in pretty well with how often I actually wash my dressing gown.0 -

Its not so much about hours worn, especially with a dressing gown that might get damp, ots about creating a nice environemnt for nasties to breath.....a dressing gown worn while shower fresh provides moisture, then, hung in a warm place.....an ideal place to bring up a family of bacteria!
We are not a brilliantly clean household, and i am not ridiculous about 'germs' i just don't like smelly things!:D0 -

Nice try Andy but that logic doesn't work. Especially when you consider that you should really change your underwear more often! :eek:0 -
I wear my dressing gown and pj's alot more often that I am in clothes these days due to long term illness.
Winter one gets washed once or twice a month, more in summer as it's easier to dry and I wear a lighter one.
Either I decide it smells and put it in the machine or I add it to make up a load.
I know it should be done more, but it takes 2-3 days to dry in winter and I have more important things in the queue to use my precious energy on!
(For pj's I have 2 of nightie and bottoms so easier to change over and clean, only one dressing gown for winter and one for summer!)0 -

Srsly?!
Changing underwear more than daily? Why?
And on the dressing gown thing - I wash mine quite a lot, especially in winter. I rarely wear a dressing gown with nothing else on, but I often use it as an extra layer when it's chilly (rather than put the heating on). I always change out of work clothes as soon as I get home into more comfortable stuff so my dressing gown will sometimes bear witness to what I had for dinner0 -
My evening isn't my own until I have changed out of my day clothes and into something comfortable so I wear my dressing gown for a couple of hours every evening - it gets washed every week, more if I drop something on it. It's only a thin black cotton thing though, so doesn't take much space or time to do.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
