If anyone else is interested in buying in bulk from Naturally Foods, maybe we could share an order for free delivery. Minimum spend for free delivery is £75. I've been looking to buy baking powder in bulk and they do 1kg bags, also yeast and bicarb.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

When the possibility of a pandemic was discussed in the past, it seemed that one of the likely government actions to contain infection was closure of schools, universities, etc, and restrictions on movement. The advice last time was that we might need to consider the possibility that we couldn't shop. Now it's on the cards again ...
I've been running down my freezer because we're moving in a few weeks. However, it's a short move, and we don't really need to do that - we're getting a new f/f for the new house, so the f/f here doesn't have to be moved, just the contents packed and taken for a short drive. I have been seriously thinking of doing a big shop, and returning to my usual pattern of a full freezer. I was also wondering whether this was a good time to get some big quantities of basics and keep the stocks at that level rather than my usual famine-feast approach. Not that I seriously think we're all going to be quarantined, but ... what harm would it do? The only downside I could imagine would be that I felt a bit silly (and since we'd use the food, not very) or that if things went very bad and there was no power, it all went off. But that's taking worrying about emergencies to even madder levels.

it did cross my mind last night watching the news but not really sure where to start. Is there a list anywhere with some good ideas? I'm sure theres a MSEer whose gone through this before!0

How about those little face masks I saw them handing out on the news to people in the streets in Mexico?
It is always a good idea to have food stocks no matter what the threat might be, illness, redundancy, strike, natural disaster, and ofcourse a wind up radio/torch etc etc etc.
I must admit, I don't fancy swine flu, I assume that my flu jab won't protect me from that!0 -

Yes there is a thread on stockpiling food that should help so I'll add this thread to it to keep the suggestions together.

I wish people would stop scaremongering. Yes this flu is bad in some parts of the world and yes it could spread but tbh going on panic overdrive will not solve any problems.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.
