Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker Savvy Shopper!
I've been stockpiling over the last 3 or 4 months and have a good supply in. Have also been researching recipes so that I can cook with what I have in the cupboards. I havent got bottles of water though which is a major flaw, I havent bothered due to lack of space but might have to think about that.

I was stocking up in case of redundancy/massive inflation, but the American websites I look at have always been concerned with a pandemic.

Since heavy flooding in our area, when we came dangerously close to losing our water supply, I keep a supply of water purification tablets. I got mine from here (part way down the page).
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

Ordered my big shop. A bit of extra meat to replenish stocks. Extra supplies of rice, pasta, pulses, bread mixes (easier to store than loaves), passata, frozen veg, cheese, bacon and cleaning/laundry stuff. Also, a lot of night time pull ups for the boy, because the shops run out of big size regularly at the best of times. The main difference between this shop and doing a "big once a month shop" is that I will replace things as I use them rather than run it down.

Thinking through this list, the main problems if we were stuck in the house or if shops were running out of food (which in this small town would be fast because we don't have a supermarket), would be fresh veg (won't use the stock of frozen unless I have to) and milk. I get a veg box, and I'd imagine that might be one of the more reliable supply lines. I have stopped short of ordering UHT milk at this point, but maybe I'll add some dried skimmed milk to the list. However, I'm reluctant to get anything we wouldn't eat normally, I'm not panicking just being careful, and storage might start to be an issue anyway.

One thing I find interesting is that the government mostly hasn't said much about what the emergency plans are. In New Zealand, they're being really upfront about them, and I can remember what was planned when SARS nearly happened, so that's what I'm going on.
