I haven't read all the thread, I'm tired but I don't think you should be setting it to GMT+1 I think you should set it to GMT and let the clock sort out the daylight saving setting.

Apologies if this has already been suggested.
One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago and had same issue, the fix is to go into setup mode. Hold the mode button for 3 seconds until it starts to flash you set the first setting to minus one for daylight saving rather than plus one as you would expect then push mode key and continue to setup time, date, year etc as per manual then select location as GB then nearest locality listed to MAN (for Manchester) as mine is then when it picks up the time signal from Germany during the night it will set correctly. Due to evening daylight and the low frequency transmissioon pulses its best to leave it overnight to receive a good signal from the early hours transmissions.

I too was having similar problems regarding time setting for the UK. I believe myself to be very logical in thought and reasonably technically minded. However I missed the nuances of time zone setting in the operating instructions. It would have helped if the operating instructions had given an example of what to set to a particular time zone, like for the UK, to use the buttons to make the first setting to -1 for example. The statement that the default is GMT +1 does little to help. Maybe Auriol as manufacturers may make their instructions more clear. Thank you once again Elggin for your excellent response.

I just got one of these weather stations for my birthday. I worked out in a few minutes that if it insisted on giving me a time which was 1 hour ahead, I need to set it to a timezone which is one hour back. But all TomToms I've ever owned have been the same, so... maybe it's the radio signal from Germany which is wrong.

Anyway, the problem I was Googling for was different... the indoor temperature is always 2.5 degrees Celsius lower than three other thermometers I've put next to it (an alcohol thermometer, an electronic thermometer and a coil thermometer).

Is anybody else finding the temperature accuracy is bad?

(And the city locations are annoying as well. My nearest city is Manchester, but it has a sunrise/sunset time 13 minutes different from Manchester.)

Someone bought me mine. It's always an hour slow. As I know this, I just add an hour. Simples.:)

When I need to sit fiddling around with stuff like this, I'll either be ready for me box, or I'll have come into money and have others doing the really important stuff.

Come to think of it, they could do this too! :rotfl:
  • I think the problem with this clock is that as well as having to set the time zone to -1 you then have to press the clock button to cycle through the incorrect time an the corrected time. When the corrected time is shown the zone text will display on the screen.
  • Since writing on this thread an odd thing happened. I had botched the right time by entering GMT-1, and that was fine until one day it started working properly, which is to say I had to reset it to GMT+0. It was nowhere close to daylight savings time change. My best theories are that either the radio signal it was following changed, or another - correct - signal became stronger. Anyway, the time has remained correct since then, and the temperature has remained as inaccurate as before.
