Obviously no response to my email to Lidl! I guess we will just learn to live with the time being 1 hour out as apart from that it works fine. Better than the £82 Oregon which we bought and took back. In response to the question as to the place settings they are definitely set to GB and LON. The only way to get round the problem would be to disable the signal from the atomic clock but have no way of knowing how to do that.0

Out of interest, does it matter that the clock is out?
I assume if you know it's an hour wrong you can just take it into account?
Not trying to be flippant or anything I can assure you, and I know this kind of issue would bug the hell out of me, just wondered if it really makes any difference to anything - functionality etc?"We can all fly as high as the dreams we dare to live...........unless we are a chicken" ~ Anon.0 -

I still believe that you have not actually set the time zone correctly.
Did you definitely confirm the setting? Have you tried changing it to another time zone? e.g. FIN HEL (Finland, Helsinki) + 2 hours and then back to GB LON.Confirm your setting by pressing the MODE button. The location display for city flashes. Press the down arrow/aerial symbol button and the up arrow/12/24 button to set it to the desired city.
Confirm your settings by pressing the MODE button. Then the time zone will shifted automatically. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Thanks for all the interest in the problem. As far as the setting goes I set
to GB and my nearest city MANchester. The forecasting so far is fairly
accurate and as earlier thread said"Does it matter that the clock is out"
I have tried other locations, result as soon as the signal is picked up it's
back to CEST. Again thank you all.....Milvus0 -

So what happens to the displayed time when the Time Zone is set to FIN HEL which is +2 hours?
That would prove that you can actually change the time zone successfully and the displayed time should display accordingly.
Do you really believe that because this was sold by Lidl, that it will only work correctly in Germany! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago and had same issue, the fix is to go into setup mode. Hold the mode button for 3 seconds until it starts to flash you set the first setting to minus one for daylight saving rather than plus one as you would expect then push mode key and continue to setup time, date, year etc as per manual then select location as GB then nearest locality listed to MAN (for Manchester) as mine is then when it picks up the time signal from Germany during the night it will set correctly. Due to evening daylight and the low frequency transmissioon pulses its best to leave it overnight to receive a good signal from the early hours transmissions.0

Will try the +2 Helsinki over the weekend and the -1 for for daylight saving, though I'm pretty sure I've tried the latter when I first
encountered the problem .Lidl I'm sure wouldn't sell it if it wasn't capable of showing a correct UK time, but electronic circuitry can fail on occasions.0 -
Nothing that either of you have posted convinces me that this is anything other than simple user error and you have not adopted a logical approach to solving your problem.
The retailer Lidl have done nothing wrong and they can't be expected to support every single item that they sell at lower prices than elsewhere!
The same pre-programmed chip will be used in many similar devices sold across europe by the thousands, with varying displays/features etc. and I would put money on it not being the "electronic circuitry" failing as you put it.
If you can't operate the device return it for a full refund. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Thanks Ellgin, we have had a eureka moment and so far the time has reverted to BST. Just to recap, what we did was to press MODE and then when the 0 sign flashed, used the down arrow to change this to -1 and then pressed MODE again. We did this earlier this afternoon, the weather station has picked up the DST signal since and the time is still correct. It's good to find an easy solution to the problem.0

Tried the FIN/HEL last night. Took the batteries out and started
from scratch, set the time as you suggested for FIN/HEL +2hrs.
Overnight it picked up the clock signal from Frankfurt and this morning the time had reverted to CEST for Germany as before
1hr ahead of UK. Every attempt to set the time or any other feature
by holding the Mode button for 3secs you lose the signal then you have to cycle through the setting to complete the set-up.Then on the hour as it picks up the signal the time setting changes.
If it is user error I don't know what else i can do.0
