Seller replaced some switches and sockets with plastic ones

Having just sold, I really don't remember wall sockets being on the list! I assumed it was something I HAD to leave in place.
The seller advertised the house with "luxury" sockets, as displayed in the photos advertising the property, and as viewed by the buyer. If they intended taking them, they should have stated this in the EA literature.
I don't understand why people are saying let this drop - why let mean people win?!?!
Also, I'd also be worried that the sockets had been changed over in a hurry, and weren't done properly, so would be double checking them!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Perhaps the switches were faulty and he was doing you a favour?! Have you been in touch and asked him why yet?0

I'd certainly look or get an electrician to make sure they're safe....
I'd also have a good look in the loft in case he left a ton of junk up there!
Finally tell him there's post to collect which he can have once he returns the sockets he took

I sympathise with how you feel about this, but put your rational head on for a few minutes, work out the cost of putting things right, a couple of hundred pounds? work out the cost of taking action, a couple of hundred pounds?
Multiply it by the likelyhood of getting any money back, say 50% and you are no better off than when you started, possibly even worse off, with a few months of angry feeling bubbling away.
Make the decsion that is right for you, can you cope with the hassle, will your vindication make up for the stress of dealing with it, if the answer is yes go for it, if no, put things right, decorate the house how you want it and move on0 -
hardly worth chasing but if it were me I'd want revenge !! I'd be shredding all his post. Especially important stuff !! or put it all in a nice heavy envelope and send to the new address, obviously without a stamp !0

I'd put the letters AND cheap nasty sockets in the biggest envelope I could find and be sending via taxi... to be paid at the other end.0 -
I have to say as the house was advertised with luxury sockets etc. then I would pursue it simply because the seller was dishonest. I would get the socket replaced by a qualified electrician and then send then bill to the sellers solicitors.
As the OP has proof then I'm sure the seller's solicitor will advise their client to pay up or face a claim in the small claims court. Then I'd go to the local rag to gloat about winning

He took all the toilet mirrors too. One is marble tiled, so can't make good of holes! Also light fittings and it should have been just shades. Solicitor is writing to his solicitor... The F&F wasn't ticked for all these things to be taken or not made good!0

This reminds me of when we bought our first house many years ago and, despite assurances that these things were staying, they took the bathroom cabinet (walls were artexed at time so a big 'gap' in pattern ) and - get this - they even took the plugs from the sinks!!!! They were so petty and downright rude when our solicitor made them give the stuff back.
and guess why they were moving? They'd had a big win on the football pools (1970's).
