  • "Seven months of helll"? "Bloody Hard" ? What a laugh.

Ask the guys (and girls) who are doing a 'bloody hard' stint in Helmand Province what seven months of hell really are.

When so many people are trying to blow you to bits puts a trivial event like the boat race and some clown seeking publicity into perspective.

The President of the Boat Club will likely be complaining that the 'apre race' Dom Perignon was not the correct temperature.

I think his definition of hell was defined by the training his team endured for the sport and races over the season. As far as I can see in the quote he hasn't compared it to what the UK soldiers have gone through. Neither have I for that matter.

I see you didn't make any meaningful remarks about my comment, just a dig. Why people need to twist to score brownie points beats me!!!

Brownie points? - you have lost me on that one.

We are discussing a trivial meaningless event that provides pleasure for a minority - someone has spoiled the day and there is such a kerfuffle over it.

Nobody died - tomorrow will still come - get over it folks.

My point was that there are bigger things going on in this world than some idiot who was seeking publicity and has spoilt a jolly day out. What this guy did was blatantly wrong in any decent persons thinking - but it's gone now - lessons will be learnt I'm sure.

    I wasn't talking about anything.

If you read my post correctly, I alluded to the point that some people may see it ironic - which was not a personal opinion on the topic - just my thoughts on what others may think about it.

I was not aware that members of the Labour Party front bench, Union Leaders, Footballers or TV personalities had any input into George Osbourne's recent budget - although I suspect they all will benefit from the new tax threshold.

Then I am happy to apologise if I misread your post. However, having read your latter posts I don't think I did, did I? You're just taking a poke at people who have achieved something in life.

I am heartily sick & tired of people having a go at success in this country.
Once youngsters were brought up to look on the 'haves' as being something to strive toward in life (& I don't just mean the amassing of money).
For an increasing number nowadays success seems to be treated with derision & hatred as if it were some disease which the country should eradicate. If they haven't had it, can't afford it, don't understand it then, apparently, nobody should.

In the case of yesterday's muppet it's twice as hypocritical because he seems to have enjoyed many of the benefits of an 'elite' life but having had his turn he now appears to think nobody else should be allowed to.

Show me where I am 'having a poke' at achievers.

I have no problem with achievers and those that have done well for themselves and if you can show me where I have been critical of such people, I would be grateful.

Some people though have never had to 'achieve' because of their upbringing and have never had to get their hands dirty to earn a living. Many (not all I hasten to add) are given privileged positions - not because of what they know - but who Daddy is friends with.

We are both drifting off the main topic of this thread and as we are not going to agree on anything - I have nothing more to add to this debate.

    OK ........

    Needless dig.

I felt really sorry for them. I live in Cambridge and see them training in all weather. I am happy Cambridge won but sorry for Oxford and sorry that Cambridge couldn't have a straightforward victory.

People are still missing the effing point here.

A boat race between two universities was disrupted!

I'm still more concerned with the £25billion to £70billion (government figures on tax avoidance) that the rich are cheating the country out of year on year.

Of course this man should spend the next ten years in jail if you want to believe the Daily Mail........and if you honestly think that spending £35,000 a year to keep a peaceful protester in jail is worth this.................you are as much as a cant (missprint) as you can be!

Which cost a lot more than 40p per unit. Now that was a needless dig. If you're poor in Cameron & Clegg's Britain, you get to know what they look - and feel - like.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
