I never said it did, I said car drivers have to pay a "tax", cyclists don't, it's not difficuly to understand.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Of course cyclists will have paid VAT on their bikes, so they too have paid a tax to use the roads ...

Yep, and that's about the best argument that can be put, so sad:(:(:(:(:(:(

Very good post, made me smile and is entirely accurate.
I was going to say tax is based on emissions and the amount of fuel you use (more fuel, more tax paid) - my car costs the most tax, my medium motorbike less and my 125 is just £15 and also uses the least fuel. On that scale clearly my pedal bike should pay no tax as it produces no emissions and it requires no fuel.

I've been a cyclist for about 25 years (thats riding for fitness on a road bike mostly) and a car/van driver for about 22 years.
I'd guess i've ridden about 100,000 miles in total on the bike - in east anglia for most of that, and approx 250,000 miles in a vehicle. So probably about the same amount of time in both forms of transport Bike v vehicle.
From experience I can definetely say I've been cut up, dangerously overtaken, drivers turning just in front of me etc far far more times when i've been on my bike than when in a vehicle.
To be honest I would gladly pay tax/insurance/have indicators etc on my bike/s if it would cut half the nutters out there fumming about bikes not having the above and possibly cutting the near misses/abuse from some drivers.
I think everyone should have a few months riding a bike on the roads today, will really sh*t some of you up as custardy says.0 -

I cycle and I drive. I see appalling road sense from both types of users.

I wonder if i should start a daily blog, on what drivers have done.
then a driver can do the same for cyclists.
lets see who has the most non fault near death experiences per day0 -
I often find that the type of people who complain about cyclists "not paying road tax or insurance" are the same small minded type of people who would deny the disabled motability cars because "they're getting a free car and its not fair!""In times of universal deceit, telling the truth will be a revolutionary act.
