Hello goodlife and welcome!
I certainly don't mind people posting on my thread, in fact I prefer it - I sometimes think I am talking to myself!
No I don't think you are cheeky asking about Betterware - that's what this forum is for, sharing information and providing support!
I have also done Betterware myself in the past, very briefly, so if you don't mind I will pass on my own experiences as well.
Sales-wise it can be hit and miss - you will get good weeks and bad weeks, especially at first. Once people realise you are going to keep coming back - i.e. you are reliable - you are much more likely to get orders. You just have to perservere (sp?). Most people are O.K. but you will need to weed out the weirdos, no-hopers, gits etc! That takes a bit of time!
It is hard work, especially if you do other work as well. OH probably does about 10 hours a week - nearly all of that is walking! He has a very large territory (much larger than my Avon territory). It kn*****ed my back when I did it because I had an undiagnosed back problem (now diagnosed I might add). However, if you are young and fit you will be all right! However, it is a drag having to go out in all weathers.
Moneywise - it is variable of course, but OH generally makes approx £50 a week from it.
The positives? You have no overheads - you don't have to pay for any brochures, stationery, delivery bags etc (I have to buy my Avon brochures and delivery bags, but not order forms) - and I don't think (though not 100% sure) there is any admin charge at start up. Also you do have a lot of support from your area coordinator - he or she will come to see you once a week, to collect your big order form, payment for last order, to deliver your last order and provide you with any help, advice or support that you need. I can't remember the last time I even spoke to my Avon manager, never mind see her!
Hope this helps! If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to ask!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
Thank goodness it’s Friday – and it’s payday! Woohoo!!!! :j Having checked my bank balance this morning my salary is a bit more than last month – I wonder why. I shall have to peruse my payslip carefully when I get it later. Also today my latest payment from Amazon has gone in, so that all helps too! I forgot to mention that I got some tax credits on Wednesday, which was a relief. As I only just managed to send back my annual review form before the deadline at the end of July, I haven’t actually had my new award notice yet. This meant that I had no idea (a) whether I would get a payment at all this month, and (b) how much it would be (as it happens it was the same as last month’s).
OH had a better day yesterday, although the pay for the job at his brother’s place seems to go down everytime they speak about it. Originally, apparently, they were talking about roughly £20K. Then when I spoke to his brother about it, it was £16K-£18K. When OH spoke to the bloke at the agency the other day, it had gone down to £6.80 an hour, which I worked out to be approx £12,700. Then when he went to see them yesterday, they quoted him £6.50 an hour, which I think is about £12,200. Anyway, OH spent a long time yesterday afternoon filling in all the forms and they said they would phone him on Wednesday, so we will just have to wait and see I suppose.
OH spoke to his mum yesterday and she told him that she had been speaking to his brother and pointed out to him the error of his ways (this was before OH had told her what had happened the other day when he went on his wild goose chase). She told him that he could not blame OH for what had happened, because of the lack of detail he had been given and also given what he had actually been told – she pointed out that it was quite an easy mistake to make! OH feels better now because, obviously, he had been starting to doubt himself! When OH spoke to his mum afterwards she asked him whether he had managed to get there on time this time, OH replied that that was a bit of a sore point and his mum’s reply was ‘You don’t need to say any more! He’s useless, isn’t he?’!. Apparently she has been on the receiving end more than once of her elder son’s lack of detail!
I managed to get most of my Avon orders delivered last night – the weather was quite kind to me this time! I also got all but 2 of my books out. This evening I am going to do 2 deliveries that involve a bit more a trek (the 2 spare books are for those customers) and that will be all the Avon I shall do today!
As it’s Friday, I doubt I shall do very much when I get home tonight – probably collapse on the sofa and fall asleep.
I think that is all the news for now. If I think of anything else (and I have got a nagging feeling that I have forgotten something) I will report later!
Bye all!!PigginSkint's debt free diary

HIya
called by to see how your OH was doing - I take it no news from the Care HOme? It may be that the Care Home would be better going by the hassle your OH is getting and the difference in pay costs ?
Have a good weekend - I hope you get hte Monday; I certainly need it!0 -
Newsflash!!!!!
OH has been offered the job at the care home! Woohoo! :j :j :j :j
He phoned me up a little while ago saying ‘what do I do now?!’ He is worried about letting his brother down after he went to the effort of trying to find some work for him. I told him that he couldn’t really think like that – he has to think about what is right for him. After talking it over with me he weighed up the pro’s and cons:
Factory (OH’s brother’s place)
Pros:
· More hours = more money
Cons:
· Horrible job!
· 12 hour nights doing a horrible job
· Strict shift pattern
· Hard to work other stuff round it
· He would have to pull out of some gigs he has got coming up
· Cost of travelling there
· If the trains were delayed or cancelled he would be stuffed!
· Hassle from brother
· Pay not great
· If there was a problem with DS he would be a long way away!
Care home
Pros:
· Nicer job
· More flexible hours
· Easy to work other stuff around it – twilight shifts and easy to swap shifts if necessary
· He should still be able to do all the gigs that he has got coming up
· Close to home – only 5 minutes walk away
· No travel costs
· Can’t get stuffed by trains being delayed or cancelled
· No hassle from brother
· If there was a problem with DS he would be close at hand
Cons:
· Pay not great
· Fewer hours, but he could always do something else to supplement it
When laid out like that it is a no-brainer really! I said to OH, in your heart of hearts, which one would you prefer to do. His answer was the care home. So I said, well there’s your answer then! He is going to mull it over for a couple of hours (just to be sure in his own mind that he making the right decision) before phoning his brother and the agency but he has already told the care home that he is accepting the job. He starts on Tuesday!
I think I will buy us a bottle of wine on the way home to celebrate!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi PS
Thanks for the info re Betterware and congrats to OH on the job. I've just signed up to be our area co-ordinator for Betterware. Kind of by accident really, I wanted to be a distributor but there isn't a co-ordinator in my area so was told I couldn't be a distributor. Me being me I got a bit uppity (bad trait!) and said right then I'll be the co-ordinator (oops!). So anyway I start next wed. Very excited as I love a new challenge but don't really know yet what it will be like. I'm gonna do my own streets as well but I'm scared of nasty people. Do you get many of them, just I've heard some horror stories.
Thanks for all your help

Thanks! Bit of sore point about the panto - the panto is in London so he won't be able to do both, assuming he gets the part of course! He said he would just go and give it a go and see what happens. Another decision to be made if he does get the part, so watch this space!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Oop! What I also meant to say was that he will be able to do the gigs for the theatre/dance project with his friend as he will be able to work his shifts around them.PigginSkint's debt free diary
