They make a good portion of income from selling bad creditors new confirmed details to debt collectors, like all credit agencies do.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Missed payments are added to your report after you have received a letter saying your payment has been missed, you do not have to pay £2 for that because you would have received a letter stating that already.
If you know that you have no bad credit history and you cannot get a loan, CC etc then it is highly unlikely that anything bad is going to show up on a report anyway.
If you get refused a loan, CC etc,
have a little think about how you manage your accounts and you will know why you have been refused..... It's not Rocket Science..
When we are in debt and owe companies money there is always some kind of communication be it Email, Snailmail, Phone etc, it is terrible being in debt I know but most people know how bad their debt problems are and what kind of shape their Credit reports are in without the need to look or pay..
Nobody is forcing you to check your Credit Reports that is a choice you make...
Anyway besides that some people just like to see what is on their reports nothing wrong with that either, Point is if people are willing to pay for a credit report then that is their choice..
Can't imagine a company is going to sit and record all of this information so we can get it free of charge..
Miss Spendalot - the reason I am having to get a credit report is that my son borrowed money from Wonga and once I found out I repaid it straight away using my debit card.
I have never missed or been late for a payment in my life, haven't had a loan since I don't know when, have 95% equity in my house, pay off my credit card in full every month and last week for the first time EVER I was refused an £8 a month contract for a mobile phone. So it is not as black and white as you have put it why everyone needs to look at their credit report and it definitely isn't always because people can't manage their finances properly. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying!:rotfl:

The good news is you won't need to call them and give them your debit card details next time.
Now that they have your CD details they'll help themslves to your money next time your sons dips Wonga for a sub and doesn't repay it.Optimists see a glass half full
Pessimists see a glass half empty

He won't be able to as I requested that they never lend to him again. Their response was along these lines
' You do realise that if we put a mark against his name he will NEVER be able to borrow from us again, and I mean NEVER!'
To which my response was something like 'you say that as if it's a bad thing, I don't EVER want him to be able to borrow from you again'. Just wish the government would shut them all down tbh
ps think my son has learnt his lesson too - has now repaid me back in full and it was painful for him to do as he doesn't have alot of money eitherWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. How did we all get on before experian existed?
I am fed up with my private data being recorded on their systems. I now have no active accounts on their files and in less than 2 yearsbwill have no settled accounts either and will be filling in my electoral form with false details to fill experians system with the junk it deserves.
And I think access to their files should be totally free. I never asked for banks to record my private financial performance information with a third party so why should i pay to see this information.
In fact it is not just banks bolstering experians bloated database. British gas now grasses on your ability to pay on time. The moment I found out I changed from them and told them their use of experians system was my reason for leaving.
I also laugh at how people are sucked into experians suave marketing ploy about how essential their over priced products are.
Credit reference agencies are the biggest cash cow going and i viiew them with the same contempt as the census form I burned on the kitchen stove.0 -

So they were/are/will always be scummy GUS - however you wash it down, they are out to rip all and sundry off. They only ever formed to catch their own debtors as they had a lot of toxic debt (probably because they'd issue a clubby book to anyone, I had one at 13)!
They're funded by banks, they only listen to banks and best of all - they'd be bust without banks. My argument is that they ONLY take instructions from the data controller (the creditor) yet they must know more than most that the creditor gets it wrong 99.9% of the time - coupled by the fact in 1982/83 when they created CAIS they were lambasted for their incorrect use of personal data but of course we didn't have the ICO to run to back then.
History proves otherwise, sorry to say.
* in case you never noticed I know Experian as I am ex senior management! I went, I infiltrated and I left0 -
It is the bit above about them only listening to the creditor when we all know they get it wrong. The reason I am so anti cra is I had some incorrect information on my file. A default. It was not an easy process to get this removed and corrected either. Experian said contact the lender and when I did my signed for letters were ignored and apparently the department that presses the button to feed experian didnt speak to the public by phone. It was a total shambles. The company was three mobile. Now i want nothing to do with experian or any firm that uses their crummy reporting system. That said it is not as if we have much of a choice is it? Experian and their audacious razzmatazz of claims of being so essential are foisted on us whether we like it or not it seems.0

Like I say they talk to people like sh"t on the phone, solving a problem by adjusting something very minor is a long drawn out process, as said above they sell your details to any scumbag lender out there.0

What I have done is got copy of my file and ran down it closing any active account showing. Gave my reasons for closing the account as being the firms use of experian. Then when it comes to electoral roll form time i will just fill it in with a false name. I will still get a polling card but best of all experian get junk info fed to their stupid system.0
