All the supermarkets have seem to got on to rebranding bandwagon of the Value range - Morrision has recently done it have started calling their ex Value range as MSavers  Now Tesco is doing it - suddenly it seems that the supermarkets think (rightly) that Value = Cheapo/poor quality etc. and hence want to get away from "Value" branding - whatever they call it crap is crap:rotfl:

I bought their value Mince (frozen) two days ago and it was disgusting. I asked for a refund under their satisfaction guarantee (as indicated on the packaging) and was told I needed to return the product, not just the wrapper.

Tomorrow I will be delivering them two disgusting home made lasagnas, fished out of my dustbin.

That made me LOL. It would be funny if you dumped them on the CS desk, without any packaging. :rotfl:
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

It seems obvious to me that the rebranding of the value is to make people who would normally buy brands downshift to Tesco stuff because it's more discreet branding.
  • I agree that this may be smoke mirrors, the M savers range in Morrison's has simply placed cheaper items within the range to "fill it out". The £1 Paella and Chow Mein in the frozen isle used to be branded normally, now it's suddenly "M range".

I think it looks better but agree that it doesn't make me want to buy it anymore then I used to. If anything, the Value range used to stand out from its other rivals, now it looks the same.

Let's see how effective this change really is, hoping that they realise its a flop and give us back our double points for food and petrol!!!

After all the stealth 'price drop' increases implemented by Tesco in the last few months I would suggest that their value range is a bit of a misnomer anyway. Maybe they have realised this and are changing the name to protect themselves against trading standards.

I think I'd also be letting them have the two inadvertantly digested mouthfuls each family member had been disgusted by :rotfl:

Agree with this, don't give them a free dish!

A while back I bought a bakery apple pie from them, it was uncooked in the middle. I took it back and they tried to get out of a refund saying I couldn't prove it was a Tesco pie, despite it being in a box with TESCO written on it in big letters.

Eventually they agreed to a refund when I told them I was staying at the CS desk until they sorted it.

Tesco has lost UK market share to its rivals over the last six months, and CEO Philip Clarke has said that the retailer needs to improve invest more in staff and stores.
No you don't you idiot, you need to invest in lower prices rather than your stupid games of putting the prices up for one day and then cutting them to "half price". Your staff are mostly miserable and useless anyway, we don't need more of them.

Take a trip to Aldi - clean stores, efficient staff, quality products, cheap prices.

I wonder if they know that they have missed the boat with an "Everyday" rebranding. Aldi's have already rebranded some of their packaging to offer an "Everyday Essentials" range, and its a much better quality than the Tesco Value range was.

My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)
