hello everyone - happy saturday. its like a winters day here!!

been to the supermarket this morning to do the weekly shop. quite happy with £60 except for the fact that 12 weetabix cost me £1.65. a 48 pack was £4.75!!!! what on earth is going on.

i normally buy the own brand but they didnt have any. daylight robbery.

i have applied for another part time job 8hrs a week and have an interview wednesday. if i get it it will bring in an extra £150/£200 a month which will go straight on clearing this debt and then to paying off our mortgage.

i am planning to retire in 48 months time when my dd leaves high school and i will be 49. counting the months already lol.

no payments to report as i only get paid once a month but havent been spending apart from food so may be able to knock another £50 off at the end of the month if i keep it under control xx

Ahh thank you for that, I have had a quick scout on tesco mobile (as well as all the others :rotfl:) one thing we have decided is that as hes off to secondary school we wont just get him the cheapest phone we can find, we want something half decent (street cred and all that, last thing any parent wants is their kid to be laughed at) he isnt getting anything anywhere near an iphone though, so am looking at the HTC atm as it looks a pretty nice phone without being majorly expensive and liable to walking off with another kid while hes out doing gym or something

If he's just off to high school, don't get a contract! It is far too easy to go over, and he doesn't know how much he will use in 24 months... I'm with Giff Gaff, it's pay and go only, but I buy a £10 goody-bag each month and get unlt texts and web, plus 250 mins. If I go over, it's 10p per min and 6p per text (which just comes out of credit on the phone, not a nasty bill at the end :j) They don't sell phones, but you could buy a decent one for £80! You can also set it up so when your credit drops below £3, it will automatically top up again.

Ahh minicooper you obv never had a tyrant for a mum like me :rotfl:. My brat would never dare go over his minutes, and we have already trial run him for 2 months with his dads old contract phone. He's not a mobile virgin by a long shot and knows the responsibility involved. This hasn't been a decision I have made lightly, the contract im looking at has the option of bolt ons if needed and he's been well trained in the 'phone minutes are for ringing mum' mantra.

It does all depend on your kid at the end of the day, and if I wasnt confident he would be careful I wouldnt touch a contract with a barge pole. I dont want to give him the option of unlimited anything as he understands his limits and its alot harder to take a teen backwards if needed than to give them more rope IYSWIM.

Just had to pop on say hi to you all! I am absolutely completely and utterly shattered after helping my family move from one warehouse to another...we started at 9am and got back about 8pm and we're only halfway through!!! We started again tomorrow but get a lie in so we start at 9.30am... We've been lugging heavy boxes around, dismantling then putting the racking back up in the new unit, we've been hanballing all the shoes by each individual box (there are THOUSANDS), lots of twisting, turning, bending, lifting... I am in agony and completely shattered. After my food poisoning earlier in the week then I was looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend.

Anyway, I've been getting to grips with my finances and although I have slipped a bit from what I had declared (due to car costing £453 in April!) I am still going to update on payday on monday and will be back up and then some! Still on track for Dec (just) so desperately need to keep my act together.

Well goodnight all, not managed to catch up on what everyone has been up to but just wanted to say a big welcome to our newest members (I will update tomorrow night and put you on the list on the front page so you have your own number) and well done to anyone either making payments or just changing their life for the better xxx

Oh my Gordon Bennett, I have become so MSE. Just done the weekly shop and it was less then budgeted so waiting for the next week then I can transfer some more to debts.

Went to Griggs to feed the accumulating children I had today. Then had to go back after getting home and finding two donught missing which were £4 all together. Then a stand up argument in KFC (he paid) about large popcorn chicken. What have I become!
