Babble big hugs to you, have you tried your local WI or any nearby groups for meeting people?

To those asking, yes you can wait for the water to warm up I can't even have 2 min shower without waiting 30 seconds for the warmth. Oh and take as many showers as you need. It's just a challenge to use less water, so washing up water to water plants etc.

This month is going to be my biggest challenge yet, I want to feed myself and have play money totalling £50 per week. The cupboards are full, and I only need veg box once a fortnight....fingers crossed its going to be amazing if I can do it

    Hello all,

Well cream crackered. Today has been a long day at work. Been introducing my new colleague to a load of accounts in my old area. Its been an emotional day as I'm going to miss going to Sheffield and seeing all my customers.

It sounds like they will miss me too. So was super happy. Well after thing I was going to be really good just had a bunch of requests for money. First was a kids school trip, next was weapons course which I go black in but this I think is £100 so may have to skip this one, the last is the girls night out. We haven't had one since Christmas so I'm thinking to go with option one and three as last time we ended having a laugh in a nightclub dancing to Stevie Wonder!

Quick update as Aqua is being good at processing payments the last few days

No 149: New total paid off £7,644.47 total paid off 53.61%

Anyway better go catch up on all the junk on my sky box another full day of saying goodbye to customers tomorrow so its going to be very hard!

This is definitely possible! Just finished student-ship and this was my budget for a rich week! You can get loads of budget recipe books to make your food last (not sure if I'm allowed to tell you names of the ones I like?), and if you're off out, save money by having one or two before you go. Just stay away from clothes shops!

I did email the WI asking about local groups, as it says to get in touch and there isn't much info on each groups page. I am waiting to go to a Circle meeting, however even this is fraught with 'danger'! The one I am hopefully being invited to (1) isn't the one connected to Mr S's table (2), so I'm at risk of offending lots of people in 2 but 1 sounds more like my kind of people (less backstabbing).

Ah well.. I'm sure once I'm working again I'll get my mojo back.

    Hellooooooooooooooo DFBX'ers

DH and I have been sat here tonight talking DS's birthday  he'll be 11 and is off to secondary as we all know. So we are thinking a phone, he's had one since he was 9 and its a PAYG which I never remember to top up and has now become a glorified alarm clock as the sim is not active anymore :rotfl:
Anyway we are discussing a contract phone for him as theres some good deals out there, 24 months for £10.50, before christmas he carried around his dads old contract phone as Mr Jakes-mum (he who cannot wait) had to get a new one before his old contract ran out. DS was extremely good, hardly used any minutes and took really good care of it so im quite tempted.
    *sigh* decisions decisions . . .

Mini-cooper, I used to manage £10 a week as a student. However, I now have more commitments (visiting family, petrol, veg box, hobbies). If I can get through week 1 post-payday I'll be ok, but I always end up killing my budget within the first few days.

Babble, what's a circle meeting? Hope you find something to go along and meet people at. Have you checked local cafes, wool shops etc for coffee mornings? My local wool shop has sofas so people just go along for a natter.

Jakes mum, your son must have learnt a thing or two from you then :)

well, this evening I've laid seeds in the OH's head that he should do a masters. I've also asked him to move in with me when I move to Cardiff, but he's got the fear so have told him its very MSE ;) I didn't mention MSE to OH though, he'd think I was being crazy money saving lady instead of loving girlfriend

Well done for selling the pram, I know how you feel I have held onto mine for the last few years in hope but I have had a few miscarriages on the way and today I took a positive step in actually sorting out all my baby stuff into piles for giving away and selling.

I'm so sorry to hear that kc26, I agree that you are taking positive steps but we all appreciate how hard it must feel *hugs* xxx

Big and bold for Jemma to see :)

    Cheers fallen! xxx

I'm going to ask my local barnardos collection point if they need any help... just need to do something. Mr S doesn't see the point as I should be looking for temp work, but it will just give me something to do.

circle is Ladies Circle and started off as a social group for wives of members of the Round Table. They are social groups and have events, and raise money for charity etc etc. Most Circles are attached to a Table and they help each other out with events. Nowadays though I don't think you have to be with a round table guy to join. Mr S organised the local public fireworks night last year and raised over 10k for charity :)

Babble, is Mr S a knight? I have a great imagination and round table has conjured up horses and sword fights
