OMG I have been sooooooooo ill. I got that damned norovirus thingy and haven't been able to keep anything down since Tuesday... I am shattered and not feeling at all chrismassy! Just feel like I've gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson but at least I'm not feeling sick anymore. I'm glad it's happened this week though and not over Christmas itself!

Anyway, just wanted to say that I'd not forgotten you all! I've just had a quick look on the last page and seen 2 pieces of fabulous news. Canucksfan, my biggest and sincerest congratulations on becoming a mum again, I am so glad to hear you are both well xxx CW2, well done on becoming debt free, I am so proud of you xxx

I am so glad I had already done all my christmas shopping so I don't have to brave the shops today. I have just written a to do list a mile long though as my parents have gone away for a few days (probably to get away from me!) and are not back until tomorrow afternoon so the whole house needs tidying and cleaning. NOT looking forward to it but I'll take it in stages with breaks in between.

One piece of very good news is that my brother in law decided to reclaim his PPI after I had successfully done mine. His loan dates back about 16yrs as he keep just consolidating the loan with the same company over the years to get rid of credit cards (doh!). Anyway, he got the letter back yesterday to say he was being awarded £10,200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This means that they can now clear ALL their debt in January and start saving for a house. To say they are relieved is an understatement and they can also start thinking of starting a family.

I'm going to start on my to do list now but will be back this evening to update and create CW2's (and if I've missed anyone else becoming debt free whilst I've been ill, I am truly sorry) Roll of Honour post.

Hope you're having a lovely time getting ready for a debt free (or debt reduced) Christmas. You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves for what you've achieved this year. I'm sure we'll all do even greater things with Spagbol's thread into 2013!

I'll post the final figures just after midnight on Christmas Eve and then post a link to Spagbol's thread for the next installment of DFBX xxx

Hi Jemma and sorry to hear you've been poorly :(

Please can you let me know how you found the best way to do the thread? Do you start it and just write a word on 8 or so posts so you can go back and edit later? I don't know how to go about starting it so this might not bode well :rotfl:

Am off out today but will check back in later and hopefully get the other thread started :j

I've just sent you the longest PM in history! Sorry! Hope it helps. I'll send the spreadsheet later this evening hun. Just ask any questions you want hun, It's a bit daunting at first to start one up but you'll soon get the hang of it and will really enjoy designing it! xxx

  • Congratulations Canicksfan glad you and the little 'un are doing well! Look forward to seeing the photos :)

CW2 - well done on being debt free!

Jemma sorry to hear you're not feeling well, I hope you feel better soon!

Got paid Friday, so I have paid off another £100 for December, with money left over from last month - meaning I've paid off £2621/3486 = 75.19%, and is where I will call the end of this challenge.

I have made some of my January payments already, but will save the update for the shiny new thread (that's coming from January's budget, and if I update now, I'll have nothing to post in the new thread)

Thank you so much! I'm a bit bewildered as to how a spreadsheet will work on a forum so please send instructions for how to link them up too. Really appreciate the advice :D Have pm'd you back. Hope you are feeling better xx

Don't worry, it's really simple actually! You literally highlight the cells you want to copy in then press Ctrl C then go to your post and press Ctrl V in the thread. Hey presto! I'm on my phone at the mo, but will send the spreadsheet when I'm on my laptop later tonight xxx

  • Hi all,

I hope you're all doing ok. I've been awol for a long time! I haven't been able to go online as much as I used to so haven't been keeping up with the thread.

I've been keeping up with plugging away at my debts using all the inspiration I got from this thread! Unfortunately I haven't made it by Xmas but I aim to pay it all off next month.

So my final figures for this challenge are:
    #281: £6,627.08/£7,735.45 (85.67%)

    Thanks Jemma!
    Debt Free by Xmas 2012 member #281: £6,627.08/£7,735.45 (85.67%)
  • Final Check in!

    #50
Paid off since the start of the challenge to this point in time: £7,348 / £10,722 = 69% paid off.

I'm pleased that I've paid that much off because we've done things like trips and bought new stuff for our house this year too which has stopped us getting to 100% but don't really regret it.

I will be attacking the final 31% or £3,374 in 2013 and hope to be debt free by end of Feb and failing that, March.

Again thanks Jemma so much for 2012 - it's been amazing and I really thank you from the bottom of my heart for the work you've put into this thread. I know you've had some difficulties this year and I really do hope you have a great 2013.

Thanks to SpagBol for taking over for 2013: I don't mind if I have a new number or not, I'm just happy we'll be carrying on because I really want to finish my DF journey on a DFBX thread!

Merry Christmas to everyone wherever you are and I look forward to continuing to hear about everyone's ups and downs, it really helps me to hear how other people are getting on!
