Thanks Spagbol and everyone else who is so lovely about the thread. I don't mind at all managing this challenge, I wish I could devote a lot more time to it but life has just been so hectic the last few months! And yes I do feel incredibly proud of you all. It doesn't matter if you're already debt free or you will be debt free or even if you have not paid anything off but have more importantly not added to your debt. If you've changed your life for the better because of this thread then I couldn't be more proud. I won't be debt free by Xmas like quite a few of you (will hopefully only have £2k to go) but I don't feel that I've failed. I will have paid off £15k in a year and that is not to be sniffed at!

Keep up the hard work everyone! :A

Do you think you'll be done by Easter then Jemma? I am desperately hoping against hope that we can be debt free by xmas 2013. I hope we can still all support each other :) Oh and congrats on all the babies Jemma! :D

I had to get the old sheepskin boots out this morning so summer is officially over :( Been to the doctors today and have had hypothyroidism diagnosed. This hopefully explains my exhaustion and many other things that I've had going on in the last couple of years. I didn't think that they would take me seriously, but it appears so, and on the bright side, I now don't have to pay for prescriptions!

Slowly getting the spendies paid off again, it's sickening to think had I not gone crazy the last couple of months, I'd actually be debt free by now. Hey ho, the scenic road is the best and all that.

well done Tirlittan on running the whole way!

Goodness, sorry to hear about the hypothyroidism but glad you got a diagnosis, I hope you start to feel better now.

I keep going to the doctors with fatigue, nausea etc (similar to Jemma!!) and they just tell me I'm stressed (I can go with that given the level of our debt ) and depressed (not so sure!!)

After I visited my friend a couple of weeks ago, who has also been diagnosed (and she swore I was exactly the same as her before she got diagnosed), I went in there with a list of symptoms that I've been having (exhaustion, fatigue, anxiety, depression, weight gain over the last couple of years, very low libido) and explained my mum had a very underactive thyroid. I was honestly surprised they took it so seriously, I was fully expecting to be told to bog off! I've been to other doctors in the past but nothing ever came of it except iron tablets and being told it's probably stress.

Have they ever tested you for anything? Keep badgering them, you know if you don't feel right!!

Fallenwiccan – Well done on your renewal!

    Thanks lovely :)

I was very disappointed last week when I discovered the ball gown I'd bought from my friend for £35 for my company function didn't fit any more. Have had to order a new one but I think with the money I've saved on things it's okay.

Just been sitting here working out if I could start over paying our mortgage and excitedly discovered we already own 26.01% of our flat woo :rotfl:
    HSBC CC - £3000 / £3000
    Halifax CC - £1032.77 / £1032.77
Mortgage currently at [STRIKE]£82,299.71[/STRIKE] £76,017.62 would love to overpay

To be honest, psycho, if I hadn't gone crazy in the past 5 years, I'd never have been in debt in the first place :D

I've been tested for everything and am sickeningly healthy apparently :rotfl: I think I've got a deficiency but my level is borderline so Dr thinks I'm mad. I've got a background in biochemistry so think I'm right, of course :D I'm going back this week for the next plan of attack.

Fritterprincess – Have you made any more headway in paying off you overdraft? It’s such a fabulous feeling to be rid of that noose around your neck!

Hi Jemma, I hope you had a lovely holiday. We have been up to the lakes a couple of times and its beautiful up there if a little wet. But I suppose it's green and lush for a reason!
I've had a brilliant month on the debt busting front mainly down to having a mortgage free month ( as have just changed mortgage) and have worked loads of overtime. We have been able to halve our overdraft to £2000. So pleased! I'm hoping with a sensible month and another couple of extra nightshifts I'll be able to pay off another£400-500 before the 24th (payday).
I still can't believe that you have paid off £15k in a year- that I'd truly remarkable.
I love your updates and little personal message, they really spur us on, so again a really big Thankyou.xxx
